📊 How positive are you about the change in government? 70% of the members who joined our Post-Election Food Industry Debrief said they felt optimistic about this change. 🗳️ This level of political change is rare, providing new opportunities for businesses. Expert speakers from the community came together to share their thoughts and insights on how the new government could play out for the food system transformation we are looking for.  James Toop, Chief Exec from Bite Back, Hannah Brinsden, Head of Policy and Advocacy from The Food Foundation , Ben Williams, Farmer Advisory Board member and Sustainability Manager at Leprino Foods, along with Ali Morpeth (RNutr), our in-house health and nutrition coach, shared their thoughts to over 70 community members!   🔍 Key Insights from this Huddle: ➤ Industry's initial reaction is optimistic.  ➤ Familiar faces transitioning from shadow posts to front bench roles signal continuity, and the groundwork laid by these individuals is promising.  ➤ Farmers advocate for unified targets for both sales and sustainability teams to avoid conflicting objectives.  ➤ Policy will come, but don't wait for it. I was a teenager the last time Labour was in power It's a big day if you work in the #food industry. The previous government has driven frustration and inaction. There will be 330 new MPs coming to parliament, and it should be celebrated that there will be over 240 female MPs, the highest number ever. With change comes an opportunity to inspire and engage, which gives an opportunity for progress The new government:  ➡ Has the opportunity to lead the world with a new agricultural strategy, ensuring value for all in the supply chain ➡ Can put inequality firmly at the heart of the debate, ensuring our food systems are fair for all  ➡ Take responsibility to level the playing field in the industry and roll out with the National Food Strategy  ➡ Put us back on the map at the home of progressive and purpose led food innovation The transition to a healthier and more sustainable food system is hard. Collaboration, new policy and investment is key, so are the skills and knowledge needed for teams to make the jump.
