Ever thought about how the food on your plate gets there? It's not just about farming; it's about the environment that nurtures it. Here's a fun fact: A healthy food system is only possible when we take care of our environment. The treatment we give is what we get! Think about it: Healthy Soil = Healthy Food Without rich, clean soil, our veggies, fruits, and grains wouldn't be as nutritious. Clean Water = Quality Crops Polluted water affects everything from our morning coffee to the bread we eat. Biodiversity = Resilient Food Supply: Bees, birds, and bugs help pollinate our crops, making sure we have a variety of foods. Stable Climate = Reliable Harvests Extreme weather disrupts farming. Sustainable practices help keep our climate stable and our food supply steady. So, here's the deal: You don't have to put yourself first. By taking care of the environment, you're actually ensuring your own food security and health. Win-win! This World Environment Day, let’s: 1. Be intentional about our environment 2. Support sustainable farming 3. Cut down on food waste 4. Promote clean energy 5. Save water 6. Protect natural habitat. Remember, the better we treat our planet, the better it treats us. Let's nurture nature to enjoy healthy, delicious food every day! Happy World Environment Day! 🌍💚 #WorldEnvironmentDay #HealthyFood #Sustainability #LoveOurPlanet #EcoFriendly

Statistician ~ Research || LLB || IR || PR || Youth Leader. Climate Ambassador. Founder ObbyPress Foundation.
As an Act4Food Youth Leader 2024 from Kenya 🇰🇪, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the #ACT4FOOD Youth Workshop last month in Arnhem, Netherlands🇳🇱. Joined by 20+ passionate Youth Leaders from around the globe, we focused on #SDG2 #ZEROHUNGER, creating resilient food systems, promoting food security, and leading AgriFood transformation campaigns within our communities. During this exciting workshop, I had the chance to present my milestones on SDG2, connect with other youth leaders, and gain insights from their diverse perspectives. A heartfelt thanks to ACT4FOOD Founder Sophie Healy-Thow for her selfless leadership, which ensured everything went smoothly, and to Miriam Shindler and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) for making the event seamless. One of the highlights was visiting the Farm of The Future. As a researcher with experience in Experimental Design, Randomized Block Designs, Efficacy Tests, and Hypothesis Testing, I found this visit incredibly inspiring. The workshop also included an Evaluation Assessment by experts from #Glocolearning and #Wageningen University, which enhanced our understanding of the core elements needed for creating an ACT4FOOD evaluation assessment. Together, we youth leaders developed policy campaigns to drive the growth and development of ACT4FOOD in our countries and communities, focusing on: ~Access to Healthy and Nutritious Food; ~Revamping School Feeding Programs; ~Education on food and Promoting Indigenous food; ~Food production, Tackling Effects of Climate Change; ~Climate-smart Agriculture; ~Creation of Green Jobs and Employment for Youth Are you interested in participating in these impactful campaigns? ACT4FOOD has a place for you. Join us in making a difference! #SDG2 #ZeroHunger #FoodSecurity #ACT4FOOD #YouthLeadership #ClimateSmartAgriculture #GreenJobs #HealthyEating #FoodProduction #SustainableDevelopment

More Than Just Lunch❗️ A School Mid-day Meal is more than just lunch. It's a cornerstone of education and health for millions of children worldwide. In many communities, this meal is the key to unlocking a brighter future. At ACT4FOOD, we recognize the profound impact of school mid-day meal programs as part of our #Actions4Change. We believe: ✅ Every child should eat a healthy and sustainable meal at school, college or nursery. This month, we're dedicating our content to highlighting the significance of these programs and advocating for their expansion. We want to spotlight initiatives and youth leaders who are passionate about school mid-day meals. These advocates are driving change in their communities, ensuring that every child has access to nutritious midday meal and the opportunity to thrive. Recently, we had a chat with Akila Tahsin, the youth leader from Bangladesh, about the importance of school mid-day meals. Her insights and dedication to this cause are truly inspiring. This workshop truly left a lasting impression. Engaging with young minds eager to make a difference was a delight. We eagerly anticipate your next moves in revolutionizing the food systems.
Earlier this month I took part in the Act4Food annual Youth Leader's Workshop. Myself and the other Youth Leaders from around the world have been meeting online for the past 6 months and it was amazing to meet in person and start to bring our work to life! Each of the Youth Leaders have powerful stories about the work they are doing to transform the food system in their country and it was a privilege to learn from them all. Hearing about everything from the Bite Back Campaign in the UK, to children's nutrition education programmes in Bangladesh, it was a truly inspirational week. Looking forward to continuing the work of the Act4Food movement over the coming year, making small steps towards a more sustainable food system, in Ireland and internationally. Huge thank you to Sophie Healy-Thow Miriam Shindler and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and all my fellow Youth Leaders for making this movement possible. #foodsystemstransformation #sustainablefoodsystems #youthactivism

We are incredibly proud of the impactful contributions Bako Patience makes to Act4Food.
Our COO and Co-founder Bako Patience , on her role as the Act4Food executive representative for Uganda, recently in June, participated in the Act4Food workshop that took place in the Netherlands. As a food champion, she is actively composting food waste to make organic fertilizer for small and large scale farmers in Uganda, thence actively reducing the amount of waste that ends up in the landfills, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable environments. #foodwaste #waste #food #agriculture #farmers #youth #sdgs

Exciting initiative! For those aiming to enter this industry/space, participating in industry discussions is a valuable networking opportunity. Save the date—July 16th—for engaging conversations!
In their current form, our food systems are ill-equipped to sustainably support the growing needs of our planet, while actively driving biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution. We need to reshape our food systems to address these global challenges. We’ll discuss this in a side event during the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York that is starting next week. Join us in-person in New York or virtually! Register here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d8PEdeGe We’re co-organising the side event with the Tzu Chi USA, the World Food Forum, The Urban Garden Initiative, National Young Farmers Coalition, Mercy For Animals, and Act4Food. #HLPF #HLPF2024 #ProVeg #FoodSystems
