Rahul Gandhi to visit Gujarat on July 6; to meet Rajkot fire victims' kin
NEW DELHI: Congress MP and leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to visit Ahmedabad on Saturday to address party workers and meet with families affected by recent tragedies in the state. These include the Rajkot game zone fire, the Vadodara boat capsize, and the Morbi bridge collapse. Gandhi's visit comes in the wake of a clash between BJP and Congress workers outside the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) office, which was sparked by alleged anti-Hindu comments made by Gandhi in the Lok Sabha.

According to Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gandhi will also interact with the family members of the arrested Congress workers.
"Rahul Gandhi will arrive at the GPCC office here around 12.30 pm. During his visit, he will meet and address party workers. He will also meet the kin of the victims who lost their lives in the Rajkot game zone fire and other such tragedies. He will also interact with the family members of those party workers who were arrested by the police after the clash," he said.
Tensions escalated between the BJP and Congress party on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in a violent confrontation outside the GPCC headquarters, known as Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan. The BJP and its affiliated organizations were staging a protest against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's alleged remarks, which they deemed "anti-Hindu." The clash led to stone pelting, injuring seven individuals, including three police officers.
Following the incident, Ellisbridge police took action on July 3 by registering two separate FIRs. The first FIR was filed against roughly 450 workers from both political parties, while the second was specifically against Congress workers, based on a complaint lodged by the BJP's youth wing in Ahmedabad. As a result, five Congress workers were taken into custody and are currently under remand.
