Medinipur election results 2024 live updates: TMC's June Maliah wins
NEW DELHI: June Maliah from the All India Trinamool Congress emerged victorious, securing 7,02,192 votes, which was 27,191 more than the runner-up. Agnimitra Paul of the Bharatiya Janata Party came in second place with 6,75,001 votes, falling short by 27,191 votes.
Biplab Bhatta from the Communist Party of India secured the third position with 57,785 votes, trailing the winner by 6,44,407 votes.
Anindita Jana of the Socialist Unity Centre Of India (COMMUNIST) obtained 9,791 votes, finishing 6,92,401 votes behind the victor.
Independent candidate Sanjib Dey garnered 8,711 votes, placing 6,93,481 votes behind the winner.
Anjan (Babalu) Mandal from the Bahujan Samaj Party received 6,503 votes, 6,95,689 votes less than the leading candidate. Kamalesh Mahata, another independent candidate, secured 4,250 votes, trailing the winner by 6,97,942 votes.
Sukesh Chandra Palamal, also an independent candidate, obtained 2,762 votes, falling short by 6,99,430 votes. Biswajit Das, another independent candidate, received 2,144 votes, 7,00,048 votes behind the winner.
The NOTA (None of the Above) option was chosen by 12424 voters, which was 689768 votes less than the winning candidate's tally.
The constituency participated in Phase 6 of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on May 25, 2024. Situated in the Paschim Medinipur and Purbo Medinipur districts, Medinipur primarily comprises rural areas and holds a general reservation status. In the upcoming 2024 elections, notable candidates vying for the Medinipur Lok Sabha constituency include June Malia from the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Smt. Agnimitra Paul from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Biplab Bhatta from the Communist Party of India (CPI).
