NEW DELHI: The election results in Sonitpur, Assam, have been announced. Ranjit Dutta of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing 775,788 votes, which is 361,408 more than his closest rival. Premlal Ganju of the Indian National Congress came in second place with 414,380 votes, trailing the winner by a significant margin.

Rishiraj Kaundinya from the Aam Aadmi Party secured 33,048 votes, while Raju Deuri of the Bodoland Peoples Front obtained 19,892 votes.
Independent candidate Pradip Bhandari received 8,205 votes, followed by Kameswar Swargiary of the Voters Party International with 7,382 votes. Rinku Roy from the Gana Suraksha Party garnered 6,823 votes, and Alam Ali of the Bahujan Maha Party secured 4,202 votes.
The "None of the Above" (NOTA) option was chosen by 18,748 voters, indicating their dissatisfaction with the available candidates. The winning margin for Ranjit Dutta was substantial, highlighting the strong support he received from the constituents of Sonitpur.
