Minor girl’s murder: ₹50K cash reward for lead on accused

Visakhapatnam: Two days have passed since the murder of the 14-year-old girl at Koppugondupalem village under Rambilli mandal in Anakapalle district and the accused identified as Bodabattula Suresh (26) is still absconding. Hence, Anakapalle district police on Monday announced a cash reward of 50,000 to anyone who provided concrete information about him.
It may be recalled that Suresh stabbed and slit the throat of the girl, who was a class nine student, while her parents were out on work on Saturday. The family and friends of the deceased demanded for capital punishment to Suresh to deter such heinous crimes in future.
Suresh, a native of Koppugondupalem village, is a driver and was addicted to vices. He used to stalk the minor victim and expressed desire to marry her when she came of age but was turned down by the victim’s parents. Fed up with his harassments, they filed a case against Suresh in April. He was arrested under relevant Sections of Pocso Act.
After coming out of jail on bail a few weeks ago, a begrudged Suresh decided to take revenge on the minor, holding her responsible for his imprisonment.
On July 6, Suresh barged into the victim’s house and killed her. Immediately after committing the crime, he went into hiding and has not been found yet.
Anakapalle district police chief KV Murali Krishna said that 12 special teams from the police department are on the mission to nab the absconding accused. Police have released the photos of the accused Suresh and announced a cash reward on him. They asked the public to call on 100/ 112, or 9440796084, 9440796108 or 9440904229, 7382625531 if they had any concrete information about the accused, assuring that their identities will be kept a secret.
Andhra Pradesh State Child Rights Commission Chairman Kesali Apparao, member Gondu Sitaram and Andhra Pradesh State Women's Commission member Geddam Uma visited the victim girl’s village on Monday.
