Notice to KCA over complaint against coach
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State human rights commission (SHRC) has registered a suo motu case and has issued a notice to Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) in the incident wherein a cricket coach under KCA had been sexually assaulting girls who are turning up for cricket coaching.
In the notice, the commission asked KCA to explain the circumstances under which the alleged incidents had occurred.
Manu, who is accused in the incident, was a coach with KCA for the last 10 years. The charge against him is that he had taken several girls who were availing coaching from KCA to Tenkasi and had sexually assaulted them. He is currently under arrest on charges under the Pocso Act.
There are also charges against him that he had recorded nude pictures and videos of the girl children, who had fallen victims to him.
The children and their parents are under extreme mental stress after the incident. After one victim turned up and complained against the coach, more victims had come up with similar charges against Manu.
After the complaint against him surfaced, he was removed from the coach position of KCA. He is learnt to have assaulted trainees at KCA at the KCA headquarters too. The victims have given their statements to the police that the accused had threatened them of spoiling their chances and their professional career to assault them, it is learnt. KCA, which had initially failed to take action against Manu, had then acted after multiple charges surfaced against him, it is learnt.
