SIT formed to probe murder of 4 people in Meghalaya dist

Shillong: East Jaintia Hills superintendent of police, Giri Prasad, set up a special investigation team (SIT) on Sunday to assist in the investigation of the murder of four individuals, whose bodies were found at Umpleng village in East Jaintia Hills district on Saturday.
The four bodies, with multiple injury marks, were found lying behind the village market with their hands being tied with ropes.

The SIT has been set up to assist the investigating officer (IO), Prasad said. “In this connection a criminal case has been taken up and investigation is ongoing,” the SP added. After observing all the formalities, the bodies were shifted to Khliehriat civil hospital for post mortem. tnn
