Sports dir unhappy with Chandankyari complex amenities
Bokaro: State sports director Sundeep Kumar expressed dissatisfaction over the newly constructed basketball court in Chandankyari Residential Sports Complex during his visit last week.
The blue synthetic track at the stadium serves as a training ground for athletes, football players, and archers selected from various districts across Jharkhand.
Kumar noted that while the installation of the 400mt track was complete, the steeplechase turf was yet to be finished.
“Moreover, the newly-built basketball court is not satisfactory. It does not seem to be of the required standard,” he said.
Sports director said the Delhi-based company, M/s Shiv Naresh, would be asked to reconstruct the court. “Only cementing and colouring the court is not enough. It should be developed in sync with world-class standards. Necessary action will be taken against the firm, if it doesn’t comply,” he said.
Kumar observed that the stadium, which also houses 25 athletes selected by the state sports department for training, lacks basic amenities. “Land, gates, and other amenities are required. We will approach deputy commissioner (DC) Jadhav Vijaya Narayan Rao to look into the requirements,” he said.
The synthetic track is utilized by athletes from various districts of Jharkhand, who train under the guidance of a government-appointed trainer. “Practising on this track will enhance their performance,” Kumar remarked, adding all athletes are enrolled in govt schools.
