Ranchi: Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha speaker Rabindranath Mahto on Monday welcomed newly-elected Gandey MLA Kalpana Murmu Soren into the House and called her win a victory of ‘Nari Shakti’.
Kalpana arrived with her husband Hemant Soren and took her seat in one of the rows at the back along with Congress party’s Mandar MLA Shilpi Neha Tirkey by virtue of being the first time MLA.
She blended with all the women lawmakers of the INDIA bloc and exchanged pleasantries before the special session’s business commenced at 11 am.
The 38-year-old lawmaker was seen approaching veteran MLAs of JMM with reverence as and when they were entering the floor of the House to take their seats.
Kalpana touched the feet of Rameshwar Oraon, Champai Soren, Stephen Marandi and Savita Mahto.
In his opening remarks, Mahto congratulated JMM MLAs Joba Majhi and Nalin Soren and BJP MLAs Dulu Mahto and Manish Jaiswal on getting elected to the Lok Sabha. “Kalpana Murmu Soren, who is representing Gandey, arrived at the House as a symbol of Nari Shakti and I congratulate her. Congratulations also to Hemant Soren for returning as the CM,” Mahto said.
