Dy executive engineer of power utility caught taking 1L in bribe
Nashik: Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials arrested a deputy executive engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh on Friday.
The Class 2 officer is of the Pimpalgaon sub-division of the power company in Niphad taluka. The deputy executive engineer on Saturday was produced before the court, which remanded him three days of police custody, stated a release by the ACB.

The complainant in the case had a shop with a commercial electric meter installed for his establishment. However, he was in need of an industrial electric meter, owing to which he had approached the deputy engineer.
The MSEDCL officer told the shopkeeper that he would help him to get the new meter without a legal procedure for a cost of Rs 1 lakh as a bribe.
The shopkeeper then approached the ACB, Nashik, to register a complaint. The ACB officials verified the complaint and on Friday, laid a trap. The deputy engineer accepted the bribe in front of witnesses, and he was caught by the ACB officials. On the complaint of the shopkeeper, the Pimpalgaon police have registered an FIR against the deputy executive engineer for the offences punishable under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
