Lucknow: A private sleeper bus, en route from Bihar to Delhi, overturned after its driver allegedly dozed off on Purvanchal Expressway in Amethi early Saturday, injuring 30 passengers.
Mohsin Kidwai, 50, one of the injured passengers, said, “A jolt woke me up around 4.30am. I saw people falling from their seats onto the bus floor.”
Some passengers complained that the driver was driving recklessly.
Bazar Shukul SHO Tanuj Kumar Pal said, “By the time we arrived at the accident site, some passengers managed to exit safely. With the help of locals, all others were rescued and rushed to hospital within 30 minutes.”
