Sangli youth feared drowned in Krishna river
Kolhapur: A youth from Sangli city is feared to have drowned in Krishna river when he accidentally slipped and fell into the river when he and his friend were standing on the barrage at Sangliwadi. The incident took place on Sunday evening.
The police and rescue teams are carrying search operation to trace the youth.
As per the information received from the Sangli police, Moin Momin (24) who is a resident of Shamraonagar, was walking with his friends over the Sangliwadi barrage.
Momin lost his balance, fell into the riverbed and drifted along the water. After his friend started screaming for help, the locals reached out to help but the boy was swept far away due to the water pressure. After the incident, Momin’s family and relatives also rushed to the spot.
As the incident got reported to the Sangli city police, a search operation was conducted till Haripur village on behalf of Ayush Helpline Team but Momin could not be traced till Monday late night.
The locals said that Momin and his friends were clicking selfies standing right at the edge of the barrage when he lost control and fell into the riverbank.
