Prawah inspection has exposed K’taka: CM
Panaji:Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the inspection conducted by the Mhadei-Prawah has exposed the water diversion by Karnataka.
“I don’t know why Karnataka is complaining. It is necessary to allow the authority to conduct fair inspection and the report will be submitted to Union govt. When people are burning my effigy in Karnataka, we know we are on the right track,” Sawant said.
He said that the inspection will expose Karnataka.
“The authority has visited the sites during the monsoon and they have seen how the water is flowing. Inspection has been conducted at the right time,” the CM said. He appealed everyone to be united to save Mhadei.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai alleged that only three officers from Goa and 30 Karnataka officers were present at the Prawah meeting which was held in hostile conditions. “Grievance of Goa was not discussed at the meeting. How will only three officers be able to save Goa. Govt should have given opportunity to those who can fight to save Mhadei,” Sardesai said.
The copies of the DPR were circulated among the riparian states and the members of the team. The meeting discussed administrative issues like partitioning and other works for establishing the temporary office of the river authority at the Cyclone Relief Centre at Porvorim and appointing consultants for members.
However, the meeting did not discuss the violations referred by Goa govt regarding the Kalasa project, as it was not on the agenda. TNN
