Grow a spine, act against ‘Mormugao don’, GFP tells CM
Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant must step in and stop Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar’s “reign of terror” at the port, said Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai on Sunday.
“I’m challenging this ‘na khaoonga, na khaane doonga’ party to lift a finger against this ‘don of Mormugao’ before the rest of the companies abandon their operations and go elsewhere.
On one hand, you increase power and water tariffs squeezing common Goan families, while on the other you condone the actions of your MLA who’s costing the state hundreds of crores of rupees,” Sardesai said.
“Grow a spine and take action,” he told Sawant.
“CM, for the love of Goa, act against Amonkar’s reign of terror. If BJP and the Goa CM have an iota of concern or regard for the beloved state, they’ll take immediate steps to rein in the Mormugao MLA, who’s single handedly destroying Mormugao port, the economy of the state, and the livelihoods of Goans,” Sardesai said.
But Sardesai also said he does not expect BJP to crack down on Amonkar. “They’re also beneficiaries of this lawlessness and goondaism,” he said.
GFP general secretary Durgadas Kamat likened Amonkar’s ways to the depiction of the coal mafia in the fictional town of Dhanbad in the popular ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ movie.
“It’s looks like Gangs of Wasseypur have started operating in the state. What happened to big claims of the BJP govt regarding ease of doing business. Pramod Sawant, this is the second incident reported by TOI over the past few months. Will you act,” Kamat asked.
