Cranes tow cars from subway at Bambolim
Panaji: The subway at Bambolim remained inaccessible on Monday due to heavy showers. Several cars that were parked inside the subway had to be removed using private cranes. Even the service road was submerged.
Those visiting GMC were compelled to walk across the highway to reach the hospital. Chest-deep water in the subway also proved to be a major hurdle for emergency vehicles heading to GMC.
In the last week of May, officials of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, public works department, and GMC conducted an inspection of the subway in the presence of St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar.

Borkar said that despite bringing the issue to the attention of officials and the chief minister, who holds the PWD portfolio, nothing has been done. “I requested the service road be levelled, but authorities asserted that cleaning the drains would suffice to prevent flooding. Additionally, I had also requested to clear cross-drains in the subway before the monsoon, but that has also gone unfulfilled,” he said.
