Arrest Amonkar immediately for extortion: AAP

Panaji: AAP on Sunday called for immediate arrest of BJP’s Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar for his “daylight extortion” and interference in the port activities.
“We demand the immediate arrest of Sankalp Amonkar for his acts of extortion at MPA (Mormugao Port Authority) and registration of FIR against him under provisions of criminal laws including Prevention of Corruption Act,” party’s state president Amit Palekar said.
He also asked why Goa police have not taken action against Amonkar for the alleged “extortion” from cargo transporters at the Mormugao port.
“Is he being protected by CM Pramod Sawant for reasons well known? Is BJP interested in destroying the port to sell it to a private player and using him to do so,” Palekar asked.
He said Amonkar was once accused by BJP of swindling Canacona flood relief funds. “Is the chief minister endorsing this brazen dacoity and rewarding him with a ministry instead of investigating the same,” Palekar said.
