15 more days for inputs on tourism mgmt bill: Khaunte
Panaji: Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte on Monday announced that the deadline to submit feedback on the Goa Tourism Promotion, Management and Regulation Bill, 2024, has been extended by 15 days. Khaunte also said the 2% sustainability fee proposed in the bill is just the upper limit and will be applicable only for select tourism clusters identified by govt in conjunction with the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG).

He said Goa’s tourism sector has transformed over the last 40 years, making amendments of existing laws necessary. He also claimed that the draft bill was prepared after consultations through 33 meetings.
“I will hold consultations with TTAG to understand its views and concerns. We are open to constructive criticism of the bill,” said Khaunte. “Simultaneously as the assembly session is on, time till July 21 has been given for public feedback.”
He said he is still in favour of the bill being introduced and passed during the monsoon session.
Khaunte also reassured the industry that the 2% sustainability fee is just a provision that has been introduced in the bill and will be limited to the relevant clusters once they are created.
