Panchkula to get e-bus depot soon
Panchkula: Panchkula will soon get 45 more electric buses and have an e-bus depot spanning across three acres in Sector 3. Rs 13 crore have been allotted for the project. The bus service will connect all sectors of the city, as well as Chandigarh and Zirakpur. Five electric buses were inducted recently and are plying on Panchkula-Zirakpur route.
Haryana Roadways officials said the e-bus depot will have 10 charging stations, digital display boards and fully air-conditioned ticket counter, waiting hall and retiring room.
Besides, it will have an ATM machine, eateries, medical room, administration block and office for other staff members. A proper parking place will also be made at the bus stand, they said.
The officials said this will take care of the long-pending demand of city residents of having local bus connectivity in all sectors.
An electric bus with a capacity of 45 can run for 200 on 30-minute charging. A single bus will cover around 70,000 km a year. Every bus will have a CCTV camera, public announcement system, passenger information system, panic button, among other facilities. Haryana Roadways General Manager (Panchkula) Ashok Kaushik said: “One agency has been finalised through tender process to complete this project. Soil test has been done.”
