4 school edu posts now classified as sensitive
Chandigarh: The education department has decided to categorize four key positions, including district education officer (DEO), within the school education department as sensitive.
The order was issued a month ago. “In compliance with the instructions of the Central Vigilance Commission circular and further as per the instruction of the vigilance department, Chandigarh administration, the following posts have been identified as sensitive: Director of school education, deputy directors I, II, III, and IV, district education officer, deputy district education officer, and principals,” the order stated.

“This is the first time such a measure is being implemented. It is for the betterment of the department and to maintain its sanctity and dignity. We will now monitor the tenure on these posts and start rotating them in due course,” said director of school education Harsuhindar Pal Singh Brar.
Guidelines by the vigilance department in the 2013 circular, which is referenced in the order, requires ministries, departments, organizations, and chief vigilance officers (CVOs) to identify sensitive posts and ensure they were strictly rotated every 2-3 years to prevent the development of vested interests. The commission observed that many organizations fail to implement these rotations effectively, resulting in officials remaining in the same posts for extended periods. The commission emphasized the need for strict compliance with these rules. tnn
