Bhubaneswar: Inclement weather is likely to play spoilsport during Rath Yatra on Sunday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning of heavy rain for several districts for three days till July 9. A cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal will cause heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts in the next three days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower are likely to occur at many places over interior and coastal Odisha districts, the IMD said.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput and Malkangiri. On July 9, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur, the IMD said. “ Most roads get waterlogged after rain, which may create a problem in pulling of chariots,” said Radhakanta Das, spokesperson of Iskcon Temple at Nayapalli here. tnn
