Bengaluru: The transport department, which is facing an acute shortage of enforcement staff, has inducted 84 motor vehicle inspectors. The recruitment process began in 2016 with a notification from Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to fill 150 positions, but it faced numerous controversies and legal challenges.
A press release from the department states that the authenticity of the candidates’ garage service experience was verified by the respective district deputy commissioners, as per HC and SC orders.
Following the verification of relevant documents, appointment orders were issued. The department conducted an orientation programme for newly recruited staff on Saturday.
To fill the remaining 286 vacancies in the department, KPSC has been approached to fill 76 posts, while the state govt has been requested to fill an additional 110 posts.
