July monsoon deficiency in parts of Marathwada
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Parts of Marathwada, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna districts, have been facing a rain deficit in July.
In the past 24-hours ending on Monday morning, Nanded received 32mm of rainfall, followed by Parbhani (25mm), Dharashiv (20mm), Beed (19mm), Hingoli (16mm), Latur (14mm), Jalna (5mm) and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (1mm) districts.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district has been showing a 40% rain deficiency in July so far, followed by Beed (22%) and Latur (10%).
So far, Marathwada has reported 235mm of rainfall since June 1, which accounts for 120% of the expected showers, shows official data.
The irrigation department authorities said different dams from Marathwada, including Jayakwadi dam, were not showing any rise in the live storage because of the low rainfall. “Jayakwadi dam is still showing around 4% live storage, at present. The reservoir has neither received major rainfall in catchment areas nor are there inflows from upstream areas located in Ahmednagar and Nashik districts,” said dam-incharge Vijay Kakde.
While 11 major dams from the region were showing average 13% live storage, Majalgon and Manjra dams from Beed district, Siddheshwar dam from Hingoli and Sina Kolegaon from Dharashiv districts are in a dead storage, shows official data.
