Amaravati: Human resources development minister Nara Lokesh on Monday distributed laptops to 25 differently abled students who cleared national-level CET examinations.
Maruti Pridhvi Satyadev, a differently-abled student from Vijayawada, secured 170th rank in JEE Advanced exam under the differently-abled quota. Despite his high rank, an error by state intermediate authorities regarding the memo of marks for disabled students jeopardized his admission to IIT, Madras.
Satyadev encountered difficulties uploading his Intermediate Board Certificate because of a special exemption for disabled students by the AP Intermediate Board.
This exemption was denoted with an ‘E’ for exemption in his certificate, which led IIT Madras to consider his memo incomplete. Satyadev then reached out to Lokesh via WhatsApp on June 22.
Lokesh spoke to Satyadev and his father to understand the situation. He directed the board officials to issue an updated certificate with a numerical value of 35 instead of ‘E,’ thus facilitating Satyadev’s admission to IIT Madras.
This also helped 25 other differently-abled students to get seats in reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, and IIITs. Lokesh appreciated the students and their parents during a gathering at his residence in Undavalli.
