Invest Vancouver is an economic development leadership service provided through Metro Vancouver Regional District to position the region for success in a rapidly evolving global economy. Our purpose is to amplify opportunity and propel prosperity for all residents of the Metro Vancouver region. With wildfire frequency, size, and intensity growing annually, effective wildfire management is critical. B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) is ready to help BC-based innovators step up to this challenge and take wildfire tech to a whole new level. CICE has launched Canada’s first $3 million call for innovation focused on wildfire prevention, mitigation and adaptation.     🚀 ICYMI: there was big news announced for the Metro Vancouver region’s tech sector last week! Web Summit is coming to Vancouver in 2025. The effort to bring the event to the Metro Vancouver region was guided by a consortium of organizations, led by Destination Vancouver and including: ⭐ Pacific Economic Development Canada | Développement économique Canada pour le Pacifique (PacifiCan) ⭐ BC’s Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation (JEDI) ⭐ City of VancouverVancouver Convention CentreInnovate BCFrontier CollectiveMetro Vancouver’s Invest Vancouver Last Friday, members of the consortium met for the official announcement of Web Summit Vancouver. The sentiment was clear: collaboration like this consortium is a key aspect of our region’s competitive advantage. The event will shine a global spotlight on the region, our tech sector, and our innovation capacity. The region’s unique pool of specialized talent was the key factor in the firm’s decision to pursue the future of sustainable transportation here. 📢 Ballard Power Systems is headquartered in Burnaby, BC, with 900 employees locally and 1,400 employees globally. Ballard began the development of PEM fuel cells in the 1980s; today they design, manufacture, and sell fuel cell products that power zero-emission transit buses, trucks, trains, marine vessels, and forklifts. 📢 Greenlight Innovation Corp. is driving the advancement of sustainable transportation and energy usage by creating top-tier testing and development equipment.
