Helping the world do more with less, sustainably.

About us

In the world we’re building, sustainability isn't a buzzword. It’s a fundamental driver of economic growth and prosperity, for people and planet. But Canada has an adoption problem that’s delaying our net zero transition. As Canada's largest cleantech innovation and adoption accelerator, we connect public and private sectors to the world’s best clean technologies. We de-risk and simplify the adoption of solutions that improve productivity, profitability, and economic competitiveness while addressing today’s most urgent climate challenges. Having supported 1,210+ companies to generate $500M in revenue and $1.8B in capital support, run 60 industry challenges, created 8,500+ green jobs, and reduced a projected 70+ Mt of GHG emissions, we are well-positioned to close the adoption gap. As summer heats up, so does our wanderlust—but at what cost to our planet? With the transportation sector accounting for 28% of Canada's GHG emissions, our travel choices carry significant environmental weight. As the Foresight team gathers in Vancouver this week, we're mindful of the environmental impact of our journeys, which amounts to an estimated 6.4 metric tonnes of CO2e. We're committed to keeping sustainability at the forefront and making greener choices whenever possible, with the aspiration that in the coming decades, our travels will be entirely sustainable. Here's some ways we can collectively reduce our carbon footprint: ⚖️ Support government regulations that target key polluters, including larger airlines and transportation companies ✈️ Research what airlines are doing to combat the environmental cost of air travel and consider supporting smaller, regional airlines making a positive impact like Harbour Air and Iskwew Air. 🔬Amplify ventures with solutions improving the sustainability of air travel, like Azzera (Foresight 50), working with Flair Airlines on CORSIA compliance and carbon credit optimization, and Kinitics Automation (Earth Tech: 2050), partnering with Boeing to present at global conferences. 🚉 Make sustainable individual travel choices, including walking, taking public transit, EVs, and e-bikes. Consider using services like Bike Share Toronto, Evo Car Share, and Lime Scooters for low or zero-carbon commuting options. 🏨 Support hotel chains, like Coast Hotels, committed to implementing greener practices in their operations, and ventures looking to tackle decarbonization in the built environment, like Pan-Abode International (#buildNEXT) and Rohe Homes Ltd. (#buildNEXT). 🍊 Choose plant-based foods while travelling by pre-ordering vegan meals on airlines such as Air Canada and WestJet. Whenever possible, support eco-conscious food innovators like Save Da Sea, Susgrainable, ThisFish Inc., and INHUB FARMS to name just a few. Earlier this year, our CEO, Jeanette Jackson 🌱, sat down with Stuart McNish at The Vancouver Sun for a special episode of “Conversations That Matter: the path to urban net zero.” Jeanette shared valuable insights on Canada's decarbonization opportunities, where the responsibility lies in leading the net zero transition, and the key role of industries in driving this change. Thank you Vancouver Sun for the engaging discussion on the current state of cleantech and its impact on Canada. By raising awareness and engaging in these crucial dialogues, we can drive the change needed to achieve our net zero targets and create a brighter future for generations to come. This week, our team is coming together from all across Canada for an in-person gathering in Vancouver. It's a time of collaboration, creativity, and connection that fuels our mission to drive sustainability forward. But with team members traveling from 4 provinces, what is the environmental cost of our travels? Our collective carbon emissions from travelling to Vancouver amount to an estimated 6.4 metric tonnes of CO2e - equivalent to driving one and a half personal vehicles for 1 year. To naturally sequester this carbon, it would take 106 tree saplings grown for 10 years or 7.5 acres of forests. We believe in having transparent conversations about our carbon footprint by being mindful of our impact and keeping sustainability at the forefront of our decision-making. Here's more about our impact and our mitigation strategies: 🏭 Our estimated annual emissions are 45 tonnes of CO2e per year which includes emissions from home office space, coworking spaces, commuting, and business travel. 🌱 Based on best available data sources, by working remotely, Foresight saves 44 tonnes of CO2e emissions each year, thanks to avoiding daily commutes and associated emissions. While we're proud of our efforts to minimize our footprint, we are committed to finding new ways to lessen our environmental impact while balancing in-person collaboration with environmental responsibility. For more frank dialogues on what we're doing to tackle the world's most pressing environmental challenges and achieve a decarbonized, resilient economy, read our 2023-2024 annual report: https://hubs.la/Q02FT_W00

Happy Birthday, Canada! Today is an opportunity to have important conversations about the significant challenges facing our country, recognizing, reflecting, and acting towards reconciliation with Indigenous communities and the need for continued more aggressive action on climate change, for people and the planet. At Foresight, we find ourselves both celebrating Canada's achievements in decarbonization, while also recognizing the daunting scale of action required to mitigate the worst climate impacts that will have a disproportionate impact on our most vulnerable, rural, and Indigenous communities. So today, instead of celebrating Canada, we are celebrating Canadians. From the policy-makers who have implemented emissions-reducing legislation like our Industrial Carbon Pricing system, to the #innovators championing #cleantech solutions that are making tomorrow brighter for future generations, and to the intrepreneurs of industry giants who are pushing for cleantech adoption, we are commending the hard work that Canadians are doing to tackle the urgent problems presented by climate change. Let’s continue striving towards a just and inclusive green transition for Canada, and the world. Here’s to another year of making positive change. 📸 Photo credits to the talented Foresight team for capturing these moments across Canada: Joshua Young, Tyler Klinkhammer, Lindsay Murray, CAE, Lara Varty, and Shannon Wilson.
