Join us on 11 July for an EMCC Global GPS dialogue on AI in Coaching led by Prof. Nicky Terblanche (PhD), senior lecturer and research supervisor at the University of Stellenbosch Business School. His interdisciplinary expertise in leadership coaching and information systems has significantly advanced our understanding of AI's role in coaching and its potential impact on leadership development. Professor Terblanche's recent research has focused on crucial aspects of AI coaching, including its efficacy in goal attainment compared to human coaching, factors influencing user adoption, and its potential to enhance and scale coaching practices. His work provides a balanced view of AI coaching's current capabilities and limitations, identifying key evaluation criteria such as the need for large data sets and clearly defined information flows. In this session, Professor Terblanche will explore the current state of AI coaching systems, their potential impact on the coaching profession, and ethical considerations for implementation. He will also discuss future research directions in this rapidly evolving field. Drawing from his groundbreaking studies, including a randomized controlled trial on AI coaching efficacy, Professor Terblanche will offer valuable insights into how AI could democratize coaching, making it more accessible and affordable. His research suggests that while AI coaching shows promise in specific applications like goal attainment, its effectiveness in broader aspects of coaching requires further investigation Book here: https://vist.ly/3cieq Denise Whitworth

As we all head back from the EMCC Global Annual Conference we reflect on two and a half wonderful days of the learning, connectivity and depth that is at the heart of EMCC Global. Seven keynote speakers, conference dinner, networking, dialogue and collaboration. Reflections and revelations will continue to reverberate over the coming days and weeks, and looking back it's clear that the impact of being together, both in-person and online, will be with us for months and years to come. In our last post, we noted our first four speakers, let us complete now with an acknowledgment and a reminder of our final three. Lucy D'Orsi CVO QPM shared the learning of the three-year journey she has been on as Chief Constable of British Transport Police. From perception to purpose, a common and shared pride in being the Guardians of the Railway, and a journey into diversity. Lucy shared her own story as a female officer too, and how equity of treatment does not necessarily mean equality of opportunity. NAZIM ÜNLÜ gave a glimpse of how the speed of AI might affect jobs and workforce. Behind the stats, facts and figures lay both the uncertainty and excitement of the unknown, with discussions around our role as coaches and mentors within this period of exponential change. FInishing the conference, Alex Staniforth, founder of mental health charity Mind Over Mountains. kept the participants enthralled with the story of his own relationship with mental health and the powerful effect on him of adventuring in nature, with near-catastrophic events on Everest, steps of faith across crevices, self-belief in ultramarathons and accepting support. GEB President Dr. Riza KADILAR closed the conference with the announcement of the EMCC Global Mentoring Conference on 25 October 2024, in the Romanian city of Bucharest. We are grateful to EMCC Romania - EUROPEAN MENTORING AND COACHING COUNCIL RO for bringing us to their lovely country, as we are to Nederlandse Orde van Beroepscoaches (NOBCO) EMCC Netherlands and David Brode for welcoming us to Eindhoven. Our grateful thanks to online sponsor Dr Clare Beckett-McInroy and BECKETT MCINROY Consultancy (BMC) 'enabling potential...' CoachME - they supported from the start and were valued participants , promoting and sharing reflection. Grateful thanks also to Geert Kruijswijk and Navigating Stress toolkit , whose mental health tool was so well received at the conference and whose work at the genesis of thinking for the conference helped shape the final event. Thanks to Geert's generosity, Cristiano Abbate of EMCC Italia and Georgia Stylianidou of EMCC Cyprus were able to go home with two toolkit prizes, and Alex Staniforth had a donation to his charity from Georgia who 'bought' the toolkit from original prize-winner Rosie Hawes. The conference was thanks to many volunteers and supporting professionals - Stephen Murphy, Duygu YILDIRIM, DEKON Group, Nicola Brown, Rosie Hawes. That's a wrap. See you in Bucharest. #EMCC2024

We are just over half way through the EMCC Global Conference and our minds are already buzzing with new perspectives, meeting old and new friends and being inspired by our keynote speakers and by each other. Erling Rugsten ignited our taste buds as well as our minds with his story of how profound experiences in his childhood led to his love of food and his career as a chief. Bringing chocolate creations to taste, he showed us the power of different senses and the fundamental ability of food as the energy for our bodies. Corina B. Breban presented the compelling argument that ‘when the going gets tough’ in leadership it is already too late. The power of ‘priming’ so that we are already prepared. And a top tip as to how to keep meetings short - comment below if you want to know! Peju Adebajo brought us up to speed with new research, with statistics on future workforce that both disturbed and channeled our attentions. The use of the inner development goals IDGs as a lens for personal reflection. She also brought us up on our feet, with a Bruno Mars classic that energised dancing. Ending Day Two was André Kuipers, with stories of his astronaut experiences that got all the round tables of attendees, both in-person and online, speaking excitedly about analogy, about adaptability and about our role as coaches in helping our clients and organisations take a world view. Are you at the conference? In-person and virtual attendees can also see a demonstration of Geert Kruijswijk’s Navigating Stress mental health toolkit AND put their name in a draw to win a boxed toolkit for themselves. Head to the display area or see the virtual flyer you will have received in order to take part. Waving to our virtual attendees too - and our online sponsor Dr Clare Beckett-McInroy EdD MCC ACTC MP ITCA ESIA and the BECKETT MCINROY Consultancy (BMC) 'enabling potential...' CoachME team who are taking part in the online round tables mirroring our in-person discussions. We are exhilarated half way through and there is still the conference dinner and three more keynotes to go! Are you here? Drop your pictures below too and leave us a comment. #EMCC2024 Stephen Murphy Dr. Riza KADILAR Rachael Hanley-Browne MA Duygu YILDIRIM Nicola Brown Rosie Hawes
