Ordering a plate

New license plates may be ordered by mail using the Application for Veteran License Plate (BDVR-87) form.

Replacement license plates may be ordered online or at a self-service station during a tab renewal.

Military/veteran plate options

Afghanistan Campaign Medal license plate

Afghanistan Campaign Medal veteran

Veterans who earned the Afghanistan Campaign Medal while serving in the U.S. military during Operation Enduring Freedom's Afghanistan Conflict and their spouses are eligible.

Afghanistan Conflict license plate

Afghanistan Conflict veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during Operation Enduring Freedom's Afghanistan Conflict and their spouses are eligible.

Air Force license plate

Air Force veteran

Veterans who are retired from the Air Force or were honorably discharged are eligible for an Air Force Veteran plate. Spouses aren't eligible. This is also available as a motorcycle plate.  

Army license plate

Army veteran

Veterans who are retired from the Army or were granted an honorable discharge are eligible for an Army Veteran plate. Spouses are not eligible. This is also available as a motorcycle plate.

Blue Star Family license plate

Blue Star Family

Issued to a person who has an immediate family member serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or in forces incorporated as part of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Coast Guard license plate

Coast Guard veteran

Veterans who are retired from the Coast Guard or were honorably discharged are eligible for a Coast Guard Veteran plate. Spouses aren't eligible. This is also available as a motorcycle plate.

Combat wounded veteran license plate

Combat wounded veteran - Purple Heart

Veterans who received the Purple Heart as a result of being wounded in combat are eligible for a Combat Wounded Veteran plate. Spouses aren't eligible.

Cuban Missile Crisis license plate

Cuban Missile Crisis veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Cuban Missile Crisis (Oct. 24, 1962 through June 1, 1963) and their spouses are eligible.

Disabled Veteran license plate

Disabled veteran

Veterans with a total or permanently total disability rating and an honorable discharge from the military are entitled to one Disabled Veteran plate for use on a private passenger vehicle. Spouses aren't eligible.

Dominican Republic license plate

Dominican Republic veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the invasion of the Dominican Republic (April 28, 1965 through Sept. 21, 1966) and their spouses are eligible.

Ex-Prisoner of War license plate

Ex-Prisoner of War

Veterans who were prisoners of war and their spouses are eligible.

Gold Star Family license plate

Gold Star Family

Residents who are immediate family members of military personnel who lost their lives in combat. Immediate family includes the deceased veteran's spouse, father, stepfather, mother, stepmother, foster parent, brother (including half brother), sister (including half sister), child, and stepchild.

Grenada Conflict license plate

Grenada Conflict veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Grenada Conflict (Oct. 23 through Nov. 21, 1983) and their spouses are eligible.

Iraq Campaign Medal license plate

Veterans who earned the Iraq Campaign Medal while serving in the U.S. military during the Iraq Conflict (which began March 20, 2003) and their spouses are eligible.

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Iraq Conflict and their spouses are eligible.

Korean War license plate

Korean War veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Korean War (June 27, 1950 through Jan. 31, 1955) and their spouses are eligible.

Laos Conflict license plate

Laos Conflict veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Laos Conflict (April 19, 1961 through Oct. 7, 1962) and their spouses are eligible.

Lebanon Conflict license plate

Lebanon Conflict veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Lebanon Conflict (July 1 through Nov. 1, 1958 or Aug. 25, 1982 through Feb. 27, 1984) and their spouses are eligible.

Marine Corps license plate

Marine Corps veteran

Veterans who are retired from the Marine Corps or were granted an honorable discharge are eligible for a Marine Corps Veteran plate. Spouses aren't eligible. This is also available as a motorcycle plate.

Veterans who are awarded the Medal of Honor are eligible for a Medal of Honor plate. Spouses aren't eligible.

Military Reserve license plate

Military Reserve member

Residents who are either currently enlisted in or retired from the Military Reserve are eligible for a Military Reserve Member plate. Spouses aren't eligible.

National Guard license plate

National Guard member

Residents who are either current or former members of the U.S. National Guard are eligible for a National Guard Member plate. Spouses are not eligible. This is also available as a motorcycle plate.

Navy license plate

Navy veteran

Veterans who are retired from the Navy or were granted an honorable discharge are eligible for a Navy Veteran plate. Spouses aren't eligible. This is also available as a motorcycle plate.

Panama Conflict license plate

Panama Conflict veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Panama Conflict (Dec. 20, 1989 through Jan. 3, 1990) and their spouses are eligible.

Pearl Harbor Survivor license plate

Pearl Harbor survivor

Veterans who were enlisted in the armed forces, stationed at Pearl Harbor and survived the attack Dec. 7, 1941, are eligible for a Pearl Harbor Survivor plate. Spouses aren't eligible.

Persian Gulf - Desert Storm license plate

Persian Gulf - Desert Storm veteran

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the first Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm from Oct. 2, 1990 through Feb. 28, 1991) and their spouses are eligible.

Somalia Conflict license plate

Veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Somalia Conflict (Oct. 17, 1992 through March 3, 1995) and their spouses are eligible.

Vietnam Service Medal license plate
