EASTON, Pa. -- An Easton bank branch will close later this month, but customers will find service at new office a couple blocks away.
Fidelity Bank will shift operations from Centre Square to South Third Street.
"Effective on July 29, 2024, all operations presently conducted at this office will be transferred to our branch located at 101 South 3rd Street," a sign at the 46 Centre Square office says.
The new branch at Third and Ferry streets is close to City Hall and faces a cluster of restaurants across the street. The old branch is available for lease, according to signs posted in its window.
Easton's Centre Square retains a retail presence, but old buildings have been converted into apartments as demand for urban housing in walkable cities increases. Easton is gaining hundreds of apartments within a few blocks of Center Square.

Fidelity Bank has branches across the Lehigh Valley and in northeastern Pennsylvania.
In 2022, Fidelity Bank bought the Scranton Electric Building to renovate and turn into its corporate headquarters. The famous "Electricity City" sign is on top of the building, in an area of Scranton used as the setting for the television show "The Office."
Scranton is known as the Electric City because of its early adoption of electric lighting and streetcars.
