FORECAST SUMMARY

The last few weeks were on the hot side of summer, but this week is the rainy side of summer. An area of low pressure to our west and high pressure to our east will cause the wind direction to shift from the south. This means that moisture off of the Atlantic Ocean will be transported into our region, bringing the humidity up, and a few rounds of rain this week. So, expect a shower or t-storm to develop at any time today and tomorrow though neither day looks to be close to a washout. The final round of rain this week will be on Thursday as a cold front arrives from the west. Behind this cold front, high pressure settles over the region keeping us dry Friday through the weekend and Monday. Temperatures this week stay in the mid 80s but dew points will be hovering around 70 again this week, so it will feel humid outside, but not oppressive like we saw early last week thanks to less heat. The dew point will drop back down below the 60s once the cold front moves through later Thursday and the wind direction shifts from the north, transporting a drier air mass into the region.

DETAILED FORECAST

TUESDAY

The daytime for Tuesday will be mostly dry, though an isolated shower or rumble of thunder is possible. The bulk of the rain will be late overnight Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. High temperatures will be in the mid 80s, and dew points will be in the upper 60s again, with plenty of clouds mixing with a little sun mixing in during the day.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY

Scattered showers remain through part of the day Wednesday with the rest of the day warm with overcast skies again. Highs will still be in the mid 80s and dew points will be around 70. On Thursday, the last round of the rain for this week moves through the region. Expect a few showers Thursday as a cold front arrives, then once this last round of rain moves through, the dew points start to drop back down into the “comfy” range below 60° thanks to a cold front. Highs during the day will still be in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY

Friday will be the first rain-free day this work week. High pressure moves over the region right behind the cold front Thursday evening. There will be a few clouds to start the day on Friday but skies should be clear by the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 80s but dew points will be in the upper 50s, within the “comfy” range.
