FORECAST SUMMARY

Some spots got some much-needed rain over the past 24 hours, though some in Berks County and the northern Lehigh Valley and Southern Poconos got a little too much these past two days. We’ve got a few more chances for rain over the next few days and nights, one later tonight, and a few afternoon scattered t-storms Wednesday and Thursday. A weak high-pressure system in western PA helped to break up the clouds a little this afternoon, but they will return later tonight along with rain chances. It does not look like it will be as much rain like we saw Sunday/Monday, and the best chances for rain will be south and east of the Lehigh Valley. This is all thanks to a stationary front that sits right along I-95 through Thursday. During the day on Wednesday, there will be the chance for a spotty t-storm or two, mainly in the afternoon . Thursday will see the last chance of receiving rain this week, with a couple of showers and thunderstorms during the day, especially in the afternoon. Temperatures on Wednesday will be in the low to mid 80s, then remain in the mid 80s for the rest of the work week. But the dew points will still be in the upper 60s through Thursday. A cold front will move through the region Thursday night with a drier air mass behind it. This in turn will drop the dew points back into the “comfy” range below 60°. High pressure also moves over the region right behind the front, keeping us dry Through next Tuesday. Temperatures will stay in the mid 80s of the rest of the work week, then they will start to slowly climb up over the weekend in the upper 80s. Some places south of the Lehigh Valley might hit 90° on Sunday if there is not too much cloud cover to block out the sunlight, which is not expected. Monday and Tuesday of next week will see highs around the 90° mark. Dew points will start to climb back up into the low 60s again next week. With the increase in the heat and humidity, the rain has to follow at some point, and that will be on Tuesday with scattered showers expected as of right now.
