ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Resources are being made available for City of Allentown residents on July 16-17 as officials monitor weather conditions. 

Pools

City pools will be open from 12 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday to residents and season pass holders only as capacity allows, at no cost. 

Address verification will be required.

  • Cedar Beach Pool, 101 N. Ott St.
  • Irving Pool, 731 N. Irving St.

Public Air-Conditioned Buildings

The following buildings will be open for anyone in need of air conditioning. The need is especially important for older adults. 

  • Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St. 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Cumberland Gardens Community, Room 501, E. Cumberland St. 3:30 -7 p.m. (subject to change)
  • Executive Education Charter School, 555 Union Blvd. (please use the Union Blvd entrance) 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 Elm St. 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (please enter through the doors facing the parking lot)
  • PPL Center Lobby, 701 Hamilton St., 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (enter through the Main WFMZ Gate sliding doors) 

Spray Parks 

City spray parks are open 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily. There is no cost to use the spray parks.

  • Bucky Boyle Park, 10 Pump Pl.
  • Old Fairgrounds, 5th St. between Gordon & Liberty St.
  • Valania Park, 531 Union St.

Water Curtains 

Cooling stations operated by the Allentown Fire Department will be available from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Roosevelt Park 271 Camp St
  • Jordan Park 1001 N 6th St
  • Union Terrace Soccer Fields across from UT Elementary

A reminder that City ordinance prohibits people from swimming or bathing in creeks or waterways within City parks, which presents both maintenance and safety concerns.
