I have been staying at the Hawk with my family for decades. It is usually a seamless pleasant experience from check in to check out.
The staff has historically been wonderful, friendly and accommodating.
However this visit was very different. The woman on the desk Tanya, I believe is her name was extraordinarily rude, short tempered and condescending.
While we were attempting to check in she was berating a coworker in full earshot of those of us who were beginning what is usually a magical time away.
She then proceeded to scold an older guest who was simply attempting to ask her a question.
This behavior is so unlike any that we have experienced in the past.
We managed to check in with grumpy Tonya who could not even manage a smile to anyone.
While heading to our rooms we ran into Don. It was so good to see him back as we missed him last year.
He was as lovely as she was rude. He welcomed us and even offered help with our luggage.
We only wished that he had been the first face that we saw.
I have been a manager of people for 30 years. I would never allow a front desk manager whose job is to be customer facing to behave in the manner in which she did.
The rest of our stay was lovely. The rooms are always impeccable and everyone else was lovely.
Also, please put the clock back at the pool.
We will see you again in August and hope that your front desk staff has taken a course in hospitality.
