My hubby and I stayed here for a couple of nights recently prior to getting on the Rocky Mountaineer train to Vancouver. Banff is a beautiful town and the Ptarmigan Inn is centrally located on the Main Street of the town right next to and opposite the local bus stops and the hotel gives out complimentary local bus passes to guests which is great.
The staff are all very friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious. Our room had 2 king size beds and a small table and 2 chairs. There was a tv, a full sized fridge, free safe and coffee machine. It had a good size bathroom with a bath (always a plus for me) and nice toiletries.
The room had a direct view onto the balconies of the hotel next door so not great in that respect. It was not very well lit though and felt rather dingy. Indeed to me the decor of the hotel overall felt quite dreary but my husband disagreed with me. He felt it was in keeping with the Swiss chalet vibe so maybe it’s me.
We only had breakfast here and it was ok and average priced with good service.
We didn’t take advantage of any of the other hotel facilities eg hot tubs as we were busy during our stay so can’t comment on that.
