This is not a 4-star hotel, but a great place to stay in the context of facilities, service and location in downtown Banff within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. We were lucky to be upgraded to a superior room which had been renovated but the entire building seems to have been refreshed and is very well maintained. Everything is clean. Breakfast is great; food selection, service and ambiance. There is limited indoor parking which is a big advantage when it snows. The outdoor whirlpool baths are clean. The small laundry room has good appliances. Definitely recommended at a very affordable price.

Would have given 2.5.

3rd time staying at Banff Aspen Lodge, unfortunately will probably be our last. The rooms are comfortable although the heating system is noisy and difficult to regulate to a desired temperature. Hotel in need of a major facelift to facilities.

Some staff are very helpful and some are not. Breakfast is a disaster zone, the food is lukewarm at best, the toasters are antique and takes an age to toast your bread.

Hot tub again is lukewarm with very little agitation/bubbles, sauna like a fridge and steam room has little steam and again is barely warm.

Good location, only a short stroll to Banff town centre and the shuttle bus pick up point to get to the ski areas

7 of our family stayed at Aspen Lodge in 3 rooms, our 2 booked superior rooms were upgraded to premium queen with a lounge area with the 3rd premium being a queen with 2 single beds. Great idea sinks being outside the bathrooms, beds comfy and all amenities you would need in a room. Breakfast was good especially the home made granola. Great coffee café next to reception. Short walk along Banff Avenue to restaurants and supermarket and 2 mins walk to ski bus stop. All staff very friendly with a special mention for Britney and Rodney on reception desk with lots of helpful information about anything we wanted to book. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here on our anniversary, and the experience was nothing short of disappointing, possibly the worst hotel experience I’ve had.

The property was commensurate with the price and website description, nothing fancy, but adequate for budget vacation in Banff. The room was clean and neat, and there was a complimentary breakfast buffet, although I would not recommend it.

The trouble started when, on the night of our anniversary, the toilet and bathtub began to overflow. To our surprise, the night manager’s response was to bring me a bucket with a plunger. No further explanation was offered. After I unsuccessfully attempted to plunge my own toilet, the manager finally agreed to call a plumber. He didn’t arrive until the early hours of the morning, and the manager never offered to switch rooms for us. When questioned by my wife why she (the manager) didn’t plunge our toilet for us, or call for the plumber right away, she said that she didn’t know how and calling at night would have made it an emergency. To us, this did represent an emergency, as we were unable to use the bathroom in our own hotel room.

In the morning, frustrated, my wife insisted that we be given a new room for the remainder of our stay, mainly so we could shower and use the restroom before leaving. The front desk agreed to do so, but they made sure to tell us that we had to check out of the new room in exactly thirty minutes to avoid late checkout charges. This seemed unreasonable to us, but we attempted to comply, quickly showering and checking out.

Upon arriving back home, I realized that I had left a computer cable in the room. We called the hotel and asked if they would mail it back to us, and they demanded for 50 dollars to do so. We appealed to them for free, or partially sharing, shipping costs based on our terrible experience. The manager, more concerned with showcasing her business acumen then serving the customer, explained to us in very smug and condescending terms that she would be unable to recover her losses if she did that. I never received the cable back.

Overall, the experience was terrible, and I would not return under any circumstance.

The hotel is in a fantastic location for Bsnff town. This is particularly useful as there is no bar or restaurant (other than breakfast buffet - which is lovely). The staff (particularly Jessie at breakfast) were super friendly, polite and helpful. The ski bus is a 1 minute walk away, the rooms are spacious and the outside hot tub is a godsend after a day on the slopes. This isn’t the most luxurious or modern of places, but it is clean and in a great location with everything you need there or close by. Highly recommended.

The hotel looks like it has been recently refurbished. The rooms are clean and modern and the beds are comfortable. My room had the biggest shower cubicle I’ve seen. A great touch is allowing residents to swap daily room cleaning with a free coffee from the cafe. This is a great idea and avoids unnecessary cleaning. The breakfast is really good, especially the home made granola. It’s buffet style with lots of bread, fruit and hot options . The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the area where the shops and restaurants are. It’s also equidistant between two ski bus stops which are around one minute away. Couple of negatives, two mornings there was very little hot water but was fixed. Also, of the two hot tubs, only one was available. The larger of the two wasn’t open which was a shame as the smaller one was often full and it’s nice to steep sore ski legs after being out all day.

Our first trip to Banff our travel agent booked us into Banff Aspen Lodge . It’s in a great location on Banff Avenue so shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance. Rooms are well equipped and spotless you can opt out of housekeeping if you want. Breakfast is buffet style and for us was adequate with fresh hot and cold options would definitely return

Originally selected this property due to the location and great reviews; unfortunately, the overnight stay proved to be very disappointing. The hotel is not equipped with in-room air conditioning, and despite using the fans they provided while keeping the drapes closed, the room remained unbearably hot. Sadly, it felt like a sauna in Room 111. Additionally, the shower was not cleaned properly as there was still clumps of hair on the floor from the previous guest. Nevertheless, their staff was kind and accommodating. Will likely choose a different property in the future where the A/C is operational.

We had a great stay at Banff Aspen Lodge. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the hot tubs were excellent. The buffet breakfast was in a lovely dining room and there was a great variety or hot and cold food. The hotel is right on the main road and so access to the rest of the City and the Ski hill shuttles was very convenient.

We recently visited Banff on a trip across Canada and decided to stay at the Aspen Lodge.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the friendly staff and informed that our room had been upgraded, which was a pleasant surprise we had not expected.

The room was nothing short of brilliant. It was huge and we had more than enough space with a sliding door that opened onto spectacular views of Mount Rundle. Everything was immaculate and modern with all you could ask for, including USB ports for charging, coffee facilities, fridge, and a large TV and sofa.

The hotel has all the charm you could imagine for a rocky mountain lodge hotel. Real log exterior, roaring firepits and heated spa pools, and an included hearty breakfast helped to really add to the special feel of the place, but what really sets it apart is the staff. We were given advice of the local area, maps, public transport, and they even booked a couple of trips for us. It felt as if nothing was a chore to the wonderful people working there, and they were genuinely happy to help make your stay special.

The location of the Aspen Lodge couldn't have been better, located on the main street in Banff, seconds walk from the shops and eateries and a ten-minute walk from the Bow River. Everything in the area is walkable with the exception of the Banff gondola, but this has free transport with the roam shuttle on the production of your gondola ticket.

Overall, we made some special memories that we won't forget in Banff, and the Aspen Lodge played a massive part in this. Should we visit the area again, we would not hesitate to stay there again as we really couldn't pick a fault with the lodge. We have also recommended it to family travelling to Canada next year, and we will continue to highly recommend the Aspen Lodge.

Our ski lock up is heated, you are welcome to leave your boots in the storage room but we do not have any lockers to lock your boots up. Some guests bring them to their room and some leave them in the lock up, it is up to you.
