When booking an all-inclusive holiday in Mexico, one looks forward to great food and drinks, exceptional service, and enjoying the beautiful beach and ocean.
Upon arrival, the check in service was an absolute disaster. We waited in a line up for at least an hour to receive our room keys. We were traveling with our 2 year old. How do they not have an express lane for families... at the very least. There was a jug of juice sitting on a table but no one to hand any out for at least 45 minutes. Dirty cups everywhere.
The food was fine, but the exact same every day. No variation and poor quality so by the last day I could not wait to get to the airport to eat something more appetizing. Only one a la carte even though the resort says 4. 3 of them are buffets. very disappointing. The sit down service is what people look forward too at a la cartes. The employees were miserable and could care less about the service they provided. Would wait up to 30 minutes for morning coffee after sitting down, right in time for us to leave. Only 1 or 2 times did a staff member offer to help us find a high chair, otherwise we had to find one ourselves and it was often dirty. We often sat down for lunch or dinner buffet and never got served any drinks at all. The bar tending service was slow. only 1 bar tender on often and taking up to 15 minutes to place an order. Kids pool was harder cleaned, discovered wither stool or vomit on kids slide... no wonder my kid caught hand-foot-mouth disease on the trip. Also on our fifth day, husband and son were sick all day with diarrhea. WE COULD NOT WAIT TO LEAVE... counting the hours from Friday to our departure day, Sunday. To top things off, the resort spends an absurd amount of money on its weekly Friday "neon or white" party. So sad when the resort is becoming run down and obviously money could be better invested in hiring more staff or serving better quality food and drinks. Also, the resort uses BLEACH TO CLEAN BEACH CHAIRS EVERY NIGHT. I found this out when my husband and I took an evening stroll along the beach and when we sat on one of the beach chairs, it was saturated in fresh bleach that I saw an employee spraying on each chair. Our clothes were ruined, we stunk, but more importantly... what a horrible crime towards the environment. I escalated this finding to management only to be told it didn't warrant any compensation for damages. They also told me that I shouldn't be concerned for the many children who play in the bleach soaked sand everyday. Will never stay at a RIU ever again.
