Mai Tai bar in the beach has the best food!! Ate lunch there almost everyday. All the options are great! Caesar was a Wonderful waiter very attentive! Highly recommend this resort for families! Lots of locals which we loved. Love that both pools have fun drink menus and options for the kiddos

You read a lot of negative reviews out there and yes this resort has them and so do all the rest even the best! I can say that the Marival has both improved and failed since the last time we were there 2 years ago. Improvements, the cleanliness, the environmental impact. They do not have straws for use and they also took away single use water bottles!! They supply you with a jug of purified water in your fridge that either you can refill yourself or they will do it when you clean the room. Each floor, in the Grand, has a purified water dispenser to fill your water bottles or jug, make sure you bring a water bottle from home. Also they improved the band for New Years and the fireworks!! The ala cartes were also very good, although we couldn't reserve early online as we were there during the Christmas break we were still able to get a good variety of them. They were very good and I must say the service was excellent, especially at Amalfi with Fransico! Also the Conceiarge, Ricardo, was amazing did everything he could to help us make our stay fantastic! All of the water toys are free to use, boogie boards, SUPs, and kayaks, we got to go out kayaking with some dolphins that was amazing. Bring a bike lock and use their bikes to go to Bucieries which is a quick 25 minute ride down the paved path. Fails, probably the food that is served in the hot dishes at the buffet no real flavour to them definitely stick to whatever is being cooked fresh that day!

My family of 3 (child 10 years old) just got back from Emotions Marival Nuevo Vallarta, and we had a wonderful week. This was my first time trying this resort and I don't want to go anywhere else ever again! It was clean enough that I wasn't worried about my child walking barefoot anywhere. I will say that the automatic soap dispensers seemed out of order for the most part, which was unfortunate. There was always one that was working though- you just had to find it. Our room needed a bit of a renovation, but I was ok with that. Our balcony was by the theatre, which was not a problem for us as we always attended the productions. If you have younger kids, who go to bed early this location may be an issue (although after a day of swimming and kids club, they will be tired anyway). I found the food very good- the best by far I've had at the other 3 all inclusive that I have been to. We enjoyed the buffet, snack bars and restaurants and even if one item wasn't to our taste, we could find lots that was. The service was great as well. We did have to wait about an hour to make our reservations for the restaurants, but we took a number, got our breakfast from the buffet and sat at the picnic tables by the reservation desk to listen for our number. I recommend this, so as to kill 2 birds with one stone! My daughter used the kids club a few times, but was a bit old for it. But it was very professionally run in my opinion. We enjoyed the theatre activities- and appreciated the enthusiasm and skill that the staff had. They worked so hard during the day, and then we would see them dancing the night away on stage! The pools were lovely and had my daughter been a few years younger, she would have gone wild for the pirate ship kids pool area! Seriously, if you have younger kids you will appreciate this amenity. The beach was perfectly clean. I did not see any garbage at all. This resort does not use disposable cups, which is why it seemed so clean. I want to thank all of the members of staff for creating such wonderful memories for my family, and I can't wait to come back again!

We booked the Marival Emotions because of recommendations from friends and family. The resort is nicely laid out, easy to get around and very clean. It is also in a nice location in Neuvo Vallarta for walking and exploring outside the resort.
Pros
The food was very good, some of the best we’ve had in 20+ stays at all inclusive resorts in Mexico.
Dalia at the Volare lounge was excellent, always made you feel welcome.
Baldo was an amazing bartender at the swim up bar
The fellow that set up umbrellas on the beach was very friendly and accommodating
The resort was very family friendly
Bellboys were very accommodating and friendly

Front desk staff were rude and unwelcoming...considering they are the first people you encounter when you arrive I think a little training on customer service would be beneficial.
You are handed off to the time share people before you are given your bracelets to enter resort....this put a bad taste in our mouth instantly.
We had booked a room with a king size bed and were given a room with two doubles that were no bigger then a super single. When we asked about changing rooms we were told it wasn’t possible.
Wifi was spotty and almost non-existent
The booking system they have for a la carte restaurants is archaic...we were lucky to get 2 sittings in our 7 day stay but talked to many people that were not able to get any.
They say there is a dress code for a la Cartes however many people were in ragged shorts, men with shirt undone and flip flops. If they are not going to enforce it then they should not say there is one.
Children allowed to sit at swim up bar making it hard for adults to get beverages.
Additional fee required for room service.

For the price we expected better service, would we stay here again, no, being hounded by time share sharks the minute you arrive is not a great way to start your vacation.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience the Vacation Club staff caused on arrival, it was not our intention to affect your vacation negatively. We apologize for not assigning a King-size bed, however, these types of requests, as well as the view and location of the rooms depend on availability at the time of arrival and are not confirmed in advance. We are surprised by your comment about the internet. Even though the internet is from an external provider the Concierge department would have been happy to help solve your connectivity issues as well as any inconveniences you may have had during your stay to ensure a more enjoyable vacation. We would like to let you know that changes to the dinner reservation system are underway to ensure all our guests can enjoy the specialty restaurants for at least half of their stay. Our Food and Beverage Manager will be happy to reinforce the dress code of our a la carte restaurants. The extra cost for room service is only 50 pesos which correspond to the delivery service to your room, not the food or drinks ordered. I am very disappointed in my stay at this resort. Upon checking in everyone in our group was handed off to a time share representative who was reluctant to give us our room keys and wrist bands unless we agreed to meet to discuss time share opportunities with them. This strong arm tactic made me feel bullied and really soured my overall impression of the resort. Fortunately we were able to get our keys and bands by being very firm and polite in our refusal. Alas, this was not the only short comings we encountered. Our room, located at pool level felt very damp and the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. Food and service was very hit and miss, with mostly misses and it was quite difficult for many in our group to get into the a la cart restaurants. As a food safety specialist I was very appalled by some of the food hygiene practices at this resort. The bright spot in this vacation was that the beach was fantastic. Purple flags were up most days indicating that marine life was present but since it was not the season for jelly fish I wasn’t too concerned. I used a shuffle step to enter the water to avoid stepping on stingrays. However, this might not appeal to most people if they were even aware what the beach flags meant. I will never return this resort or knowing to any in their chain.

Enjoyed a 6-night all-inclusive stay in a 2BR, 3BA suite that while not newly remodeled was perfectly outfitted and super spacious, with ocean view and covered patio. Nights were quiet around the rooms. Housekeeping was excellent (keeping fridge stocked with juice, yogurt, beer, sodas). Water coolers (bottled water) were conveniently at each building entry. Coffee packets had to be requested, but coffee at any of the 3 breakfast options is worth a quick stroll through the immaculate and peaceful landscaped grounds. Food was a highlight, with 6 restaurants/cafes to choose from. There were no reservations needed and we never had a wait (usually eating a brunch and then an early dinner). Our concierge, Karina, was amazing. She got us into our room quickly upon arrival, helped book appointments for salon, free photo shoot and free picnic, complete with Happy Birthday banner, cake (try lighting candles on a beach!) and guitar accompaniment! Karina and all the staff really go out of their way to make guests feel like family. This includes the activities and entertainment crew, who run an unbelievable program of daytime activities and evening events, as well as running the night club, teen club and kids club. Oh yeah, and then there's the pools (adult pool was always quiet and relaxing) and the beach, which always had several groups of umbrella-shaded lounge chairs to choose from about 50ft to the water's edge and 50ft to the pool bar (perfection!). The resort also has boogie boards, kayaks and a Hobie cat sailboat that can be borrowed with no charge (though purple and red surf flags meant we had to rent boogie boards for 50 pesos/1/2 hour from a nearby beach merchant instead). Everything was super easy and we would stay here again for sure. All staff wore masks and restaurants (the only real indoor shared space) did temperature checks and issued hand sanitizer to each diner. COVID test before departure was easy. Local COVID levels are low (green). Never was asked about buying a condo or had any other negative experience during the stay.

Beautiful beach and wonderful staff! Although the beach was our place to be the pool area was lovely as well. The bartenders there served up drinks to all ages with charm. I did found
the pool deck to be extra slippery; I
displayed it a few times with a
"Whoa" as my foot slid and I observed
other guests doing the same. Careful! Each morning my sister and I enjoyed
the beautiful sunrise on the beach.
One morning we stood amazed as we
watched a crocodile swimming in the
waves. The memory of seeing him
though became extra clear each time
we ventured in for a swim after that
morning. :) Unfortunatley we did have
one nearly sleepless night because of
REALLY loud music being played and
the sounds of a happy crowd gathered
until the early early hours of the
morning. Later in the morning we
explained to the concierge that we
were cancelling our trip to the
market because our mom just couldn't
wake up! We all laughed together and
then we received an apology as she explained that it had all come from
the staff Christmas party. Although I
was happy to hear that the staff had
a wonderful time I was also dismayed
that the resort had planned the party
knowing that guests near to the event
would not likely be able to enjoy a
good sleep. Not so fair to guests.
I do not have the name of the young man at the front desk when we checked in but I would like to say thank you once again! When we arrived we found our two rooms were one in each of two the grand towers. The young man at the front desk politely excused himself and came back with a big
smile to tell us that we now had
rooms side by side.
Our rooms were comfortable; the
cleaning staff made them look brand
new for us on the days we requested
for them to be made up! Thank you!
I'm still missing having a delicious
breakfast crepe made up just for me The food was good in the buffet and snack bar; a greater variety would have been appreciated. The coconut ice cream found at the two ice cream stands became a sought after treat
everyday!
Thank you again to the wonderful
staff! Loved that sweet creature that
found his way to the top of the
Christmas tree!

A nice place to relax and get a tan, Food is good and plentiful, drinks are what you would expect. House keeping was 9 out of 10 with the odd reminder to leave coffee, bath mats, clean dirty cups etc. Only issue we had was the sink plugged up and a couple of mornings there was no hot water for a shower. we were guests of members our first week then paid for an additional week. The change was dramatic. No access to a couple of restaurants, no access to certain areas of the beach including beach and pool side chairs/recliners. All of a sudden we had to present towel cards to get pool towels. The evening bed turn down and final check of the room was discontinued. We felt like we went from first class to second class guests. Any way special mention for Carlos Iglesias and Mauna (may have the name wrong but the lady who makes omelettes in the morning) both at Casa Bella

We chose this resort by default as we were seeking a 3 bedroom suite at a children friendly all inclusive in Nuevo. After fighting off the time share people at the airport, we encountered more at the resort when we checked in. If you are not interested in wasting a morning of your vacation, just be firm (rude if necessary) with your "not interested."
We stayed in suite 2105. The unit was on the 2nd and 3rd floors. No elevator. With the many stair steps, this could be an issue for some people. The rooms are very dated. While kept clean and maintained as much as possible, it is time for some major renovations to replace cracked counters, cracked bathtubs, and worn out bathroom fixtures. There is no ventilation system and air conditioning is by way of wall units, which did adequately cool. There apparently is a newer section of the resort, but none of the suites are located in that area.The rooms have no free wifi.

As with all Nuevo the beach is beautiful and endless. We had no problem getting chairs on the beach. There was a young man who set up beach umbrellas, although they tended to run out of umbrellas by early afternoon.There was no drink service at the beach. Drinks at the pool bars were very weak.
Reservations at the a la carte restaurants were next to impossible to obtain. Apparently the time share club members are given priority. Meals at the main buffet restaurant were good, there were usually two stations at which fresh food was prepared. For a one week stay, the food was not overly repetitious. Staff was generally friendly and helpful.
This resort was kid friendly and there were lots and lots of kids present. The kids loved the water slides in the kids pool, although the slides were only open from 10 to 5. There was a dedicated children's food area for dinner. Ice cream was available throughout the day at several locations. Pizza and spagetti available all day. There were numerous other children activities. The kids loved it!
If we were traveling without children, we would not return to his resort. However it is a great resort for the children

Overall a good place for families, I’ve been to far better, it this place is pretty good for families with kids. Especially if you are looking for a hotel with multiple bedrooms for kids.

I’ll start with the good.

1. The layout is great for families, especially the “family units with two floors and two full bedrooms. The location of these units to all the amenities and the beach is great. The rooms themselves are in good condition, but could benefit from some simple upgrades such as new shower heads, etc.


2. Pools were great. Nice temperature in both adult and kids pool (warmer). The kids pool was awesome and our 6 and 3 year old loved it!

3. The entertainment staff were really good. The Kids pool

Attendants were very watchful, and the kids club staff were fun and enjoyable. They were always fun and did a great job.

4. In general staff were great. Some of the staff in the buffets could use some improvement.

5. Beach was loads of fun!

The bads

1. Check-in. I seriously want to take the hotel owner along. with me the next time I fly all Day ( 2-3 hours of airport time plus 5 hours of flying) just to arrive at a hotel and have some stupid side show put on to try and entice me to go to the 90min timeshare breakfasts. I seriously had to tell the young punk to stop telling me I was sexy. Enough of the bs on check in. Figure out how to achieve your sales plan without pissing off your guests.

2. Food was generally ok, the a la carts were ok... but the buffets could use some work. Improve the flavor!! This is not Cuba.

3. Get with the times! Uber is the future and we all use it. I paid $11 Canadian for a ride to the airport. Faaaaaar cheaper than the next best option. But to have some hotels make the Uber pick their guests up on the street outside the hotel gates is simply silly. It clearly tells me that you arw not considerate of your guests expenses. Quite trying to force us to use the more expensive hotel taxi.

4. Spoons!!!! Why is there a full shortage of spoons at your hotel? Seriously, do yourself a favour and Order 1000 spoons from Ikea or China.

Dear guest, Our Maintenance Manager will follow up with your comments on the suites, and our Food and Beverages Manager on the services, spoons and food quality. We're very sorry for the inconveniences that you might have felt upon arrival. It was never our intention to make you feel uncomfortable. For your information, uber isn't allowed into the resort because they do not have permission to offer this service in the State. Therefore, their service isn't legal, if the hotel allows them the entrance we'd be charged with a penalty. Our best wishes, Your family at Marival.

I don’t recall any Canadian Whisky, just the normal as most hotels, Jim Beam, Passport, some bars offer Jack Daniels, about the suite it’s up to availability, at the time of the reservation you better mention you prefer a suite instead of studio, as you may know is way better traveling in low season.

We were in the resort rooms this January. We liked the fact that there was an elevator in the building. I believe the resort rooms are a little newer. We thought the rooms were quite nice. Resort rooms overlook the activities and children's pool. We had our young grandkids, so the location was perfect for us. The resort rooms are also closer to all of the a la cartes and the beachside restaurant. Small downside - the resort rooms are little further away from the main buffet, tennis courts and adults only and quiet pool.
