Service with a Smile!

Reviewed Sep 17, 2023via mobile
I stay at Comfort Suites several times a year and have for several years. I continue to choose Comfort Suites for the people - from the restaurant staff, including a gentleman by the name of Shilan, to the general manager, Jermaine, they all bend over backwards to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They care, are hard working, and do it with a smile on their face. Shilan, as well as others, have gotten to know me as a “regular” and always check to make sure my needs are met. I feel like family when I’m there. A home away from home. Now, does Comfort Suites have all the bells and whistles? No. Is it brand spanking new? No. But, it is a staple of the community where you can count on consistent great service at a very affordable price. And with access to Atlantis, it’s a hands-down fabulous deal! If you want to support an “OG” of the community and people who deserve it, chose Comfort Suites!

I am happy we chose Comfort Suites to experience Atlantis. It is in a good location right next to The Coral Towers of Atlantis by Marina Village and another shopping area with a small grocery store and Anthony's restaurant, which we enjoyed and is reasonably priced. It is a 15 min walk to the main pool at Atlantis. We brought a bookbag cooler and packed drinks each day and brought snacks. I was disappointed to find out when we arrived that the policy had changed and you have to obtain a bracelet everyday by the aquarium. However, we noticed the bracelet was the same color on the 2nd day and just kept that one on for the rest of our trip. The hotel is clean and the mattress was comfortable, however the pillows can be upgraded. We were in room 231 which was a great location right in front of the door for the pool/breakfast and the exit is close by as well. If you are a light sleeper I would request a room on the 3rd floor. The breakfast is okay. It the same each day, eggs, waffles, pastries, fruit, toast, sausage, juices...it serves its purpose. My husband did not like the coffee. The pool is warm and felt good after a long day at Atlantis. It wasn't crowded and we enjoyed the music at the pool and nice lounge chairs and towels. The music at the main pool in Atlantis is horrible except for the one day they had a DJ. We did not eat at the hotel. There were 5 of us with the youngest being 17. This hotel might not be ideal with young kids although I don't think Atlantis is for young kids as it is a far walk and there aren't many ramps for strollers. I saw many crying children and burnt out parents. Check in was quick and the cleaning staff was friendly. I recommend a tip jar at breakfast for the workers.

Overall we had a great vacation at Comfort Suites. Hotel room was clean (and got cleaned daily), bed was comfortable, large bathroom… the hotel was just a little dated and musty smelling. Pool area was clean and the daily breakfast was loved by our 12 and 13 year olds.
Pool at Atlantis closes at 7pm, but you can swim late at Comfort Suites. We enjoyed our night swims after dinner. We went to Anthony’s (across the street) 3 nights for dinner. Overall pretty good.
Tips: go to breakfast early and get in line by 8:25 for your wrist bands to Atlantis. The walk from the hotel to our favorite Atlantis pool was 1/2 a mile. We were always first or second in line. The bracelet process is very slow (still using paper and pen waivers which takes a long time and only one person working the counter.) bring a water bottle. Many water refill stations at Atlantis.

What they don't tell you is you know longer get a wristband for your whole stay for Atlantis. You have to queue every morning with everyone else from CS for at least an hour with one person doing the bands filling out the same form providing the same pink card and ID. If you're on a 2 week vacation that's 14hrs of your vacation stood queuing for a process that didn't use to happen. Upgrade to Atlantis hotel if you don't want this.

Room tip: Atlantis is the draw and now it's such a hassle with the entry process. I'd stay in Atlantis.

Stayed here paid $800 for 2 nights, deffinitely not worth it, breakfast was like prison food, had to go to another hotel nearby to get breakfast. Very pricey and not worth the money, better places to stay round that area for a cheaper price. The Que for breakfast was very long and the food was tasteless and cheap. Staff were rude when checking in and I had to keep asking for help which I was not receiving for the washing machines.

Room tip: Breakfast was like prison food, overly pricey for a simple room which you needed to walk miles to get too from reception Very outdated hotel

We have stayed here before (pre-pandemic) and absolutely loved it! There are positives with the hotel; location and access to Atlantis. These are now outweighed by what we perceived as short falls. Getting there and checking in was nothing out of the ordinary and we were familiar with the process of accessing Atlantis. The hotel is rundown, not unacceptable, but could use a freshening up. Same with the room when we got to it, just okay. The first night we figured out that the beds are some of the worst we have ever slept on. They need to be replaced, simple as that. The shower was a game of hot and cold, as you would be showering along and all of a sudden your water went to could for 20-30 seconds and then would go back to hot. This had nothing to do with anyone in the room running water or flushing a toilet either. It was just a random phenomenon that happened the entire week we were there, most of the time multiple times a shower. One of the best things we enjoyed about the hotel was the breakfast they served before heading off for the day. This is now the worst part of this hotel. I am sure the pandemic has something to do with this, so it could possibly be out of their control. The first three mornings we went down and they served the exact same thing, which was very limited to begin with; eggs, sausage, a fruit cup, toast and waffles. There was nothing more to choose from, which was one of the best things about the breakfast prior: the variety! We stopped going and started purchasing breakfast at other locations (Dunkin Donuts and The Deli) which were both a short walk from the hotel. All and all it was just an okay place, but great for families traveling on a budget for sure. We will just be staying elsewhere on our next visit to the island.
