The Cove at Atlantis boasts an enviable location with scenic views and proximity to attractions, complemented by spacious suites that many guests appreciate. While the hotel's cleanliness and luxurious amenities, such as the adults-only pool, receive praise, some visitors highlight the need for room renovations and report maintenance issues. Opinions on service and atmosphere are mixed; the lively vibe delights some but overwhelms others. Additionally, reviewers often consider the pricing steep, questioning the overall value.

Hotel's Favourite
We just got back from our stay at the Cove Atlantis. It was our first time to the Bahamas and really exceeded all expectations. We traveled from 4/15-4/22 and included myself, my wife, our daughters age 14 and 9 and our son age 17 months. There is really something for all ages at Atlantis and is impossible to be bored.

Hotel & Grounds: The Cove is a beautiful hotel, very modern and sleek. There were coy ponds and pools with sea life all around the main lobby areas which was very cool and the kids loved it. Our room was very spacious with two queen beds and a pullout sofa. The bathroom was also huge. We did not feel cramped at all like we have felt at other hotels. There is a family pool which is shared with the Reef guests that was nice but not over the top. We spent most of our time on Paradise beach which is also for Cove and Reef guests only. The beach was the real winner. Beautiful sand and crystal clear water. The kids got to snorkel and even encountered a couple of sea turtles which made their week! Tip: get down to the beach before 9am to reserve your chairs (ones with the canopy are preferable). The food options between the two hotels are limited and our only negative here. There is one full-service restaurant (Fish) which offers breakfast and dinner and located at the Cove. We had breakfast twice and dinner once at Fish which we highly recommend. There is also the Sea Glass which is more of a bar with lounge type snacks and sandwiches. We ate at the Sea Glass upon our arrival and was fine. The main pool area offers a pool bar/cafe called Cascades. We had lunch/drinks here a few times and was adequate but nothing special. There is also an adult only pool/bar section which we spent a short time at and was pretty hopping. We would spend more time there if my wife and I visited without the kids. The adult section also offers a restaurant called Freszca which we had breakfast a couple of times. The food was pretty good here as well with several options including a smoothie menu. The only other quick serve option is a Starbucks which is located at the Reef. We went to Starbucks once due to the incredibly long line and wait. Both hotels would really benefit from another grab n' go option or quick serve cafe to get coffee and breakfast type items. Also, the pool cafes close around 5pm so if you're looking for food for the kids your only option is a sit down restaurant which you need reservations for, especially during a vacation week. We ended up getting room service a couple of times which was incredibly overpriced and not recommended. Overall, we gave very high marks for service and grounds. The hotel is well maintained and always clean. But what stood out to us was the Bahamian people. They work really hard to make sure guests are happy and they probably dont get enough credit. They were super friendly to our kids and always had a smile on their face. I want to give a shout out to Dr. Z who worked the pool area and took care of us. He is a really great guy. Also want to give points to Marlene who cleaned our room all week. She did a stellar job and was very pleasant to our family. Overall, we highly recommend the Cove and give it a 9.2/10.

Atlantis Amenities: The overall amenities and grounds at Atlantis are unbelievable. So much to do and see that one week is not enough time. We spent a couple of days at the Aquaventure waterpark which the kids loved. Very cool waterslides and several pools to spend time at. The rapids river (not a lazy river) was also awesome as we did it several times. The lines were surprisingly not that long considering a vacation week. Likely due to the fact that there is so much to do on the island, so people are spread out. Aquaventure earns high marks from us. The Abyss and the Drop are the two best slides. Also surprising was the food around the park was very good and better than we've had at other water parks. We also did two activities at Dolphin Cay (playtime with Dolphins and playtime with Sealions). We highly recommend at least one activity here. Both were amazing and once in a lifetime experiences. Me and the older kids did Snorkeling the Ruins at the Royal Towers which was a very cool experience where we go to snorkel through a 2.4 million gallon tank filled with all types of fish, sting rays and even a couple of sharks. This is also highly recommended. Lastly, we spent some time at Marina Village which offers some shopping and restaurants. There are not a ton of options here but definitely worth checking out, especially if you have reservations at one of the restaurants. Overall, the amenities and grounds at Atlantis are phenomenal. Everything was so clean and inviting with so much to do. We have never visited any other place like it.

Restaurants: Instead of writing separate reviews for each restaurant I'll give a brief review of each. Night 1, we ate dinner at Poseidon's Table located at the Royal Towers. This is a buffet style place that you dont need reservations for. This earned the lowest score from us. Very overpriced for average food. Our 14 yr old daughter paid $56 and probably at $10 worth of food. They do have a lot of variety to choose from with different stations so I give points for that but the quality was not great. Night 2, we ate at Olives located next to the casino at the Royal Towers. This was the second worst restaurant of the trip. The kids meals were decent but mine and my wife's entrees came out cold so we sent them back. My meal came back first and was hot and actually pretty good (I recommend the bone in pork chop). My wife's meal took a while to come back and when it did, we found they just reheated it. The seafood scampi was awful and the pasta tasted like pureed baby food. Not worth the $65! Night 3, we ate at Nobu located next to the casino at Royal Towers. This was our favorite meal of the week. Everything was fantastic and the sushi was some of the best we've ever had. We highly recommend Nobu and wish we ate here twice. Night 3, we ate at Fish by Jose Andres and located at the Cove. This was a close second to Nobu. Everything we had (octopus, whole fried fish, halibut, conch ceviche) was fantastic. We highly recommend Fish and even the breakfast was really good. Night 4, we ate at Carmines located at Marina Village. This is a family style Italian restaurant and since I am Italian and cook at home, I can be a tough critic. I will say it exceeded our expectations. The seafood pasta was very good with plenty of seafood and a tasty sauce. This was the best value of the week and fed all five of us. Night 5, we ate at Seafire Steakhouse located at Marina Village. I was a little skeptical based on the reviews and am spoiled by several great steakhouses around the Boston area. Seafire also exceeded expectations. My wife and I both got steaks with a couple of sides. Both were tasty and cooked to perfection. Night 6, we ate at Chopstix located at the Coral. The food was ok here, nothing special. We would probably skip this one next time. All in all the food was very good at Atlantis but not the reason to visit the island. Be prepared: the food, drinks (and just about everything else) is very very expensive. As long as you set that expectation you should be fine. Just know you're going to spend some money.

Conclusion: Atlantis Paradise Island is an awesome place. We highly recommend it. It is very pricey so probably not a place you would go to every year but definitely worth a trip and an experience.

Pros: hotel, grounds, beach, amenities/activities, the Bahamian people and service
Cons: Pricey, lack of food options (non-sit down)

This was our first trip to Atlantis and initially i had booked the beach towers but because of so so reviews we switched to the cove which is more expensive. Looking back it was the right decision. The staff here is very attentive and the rooms and views are amazing.
On our way back, in the airport we met an older couple who stayed at Beach towers who said only 1 elevator was working and they had to climb many stories to get to their room with luggage.
When we went inside the Royal towers, you notice the smokey smell from adjacent casino which is also not good so i am glad we did not stay there as well.
To save cost you can do all the activities in 2 days.
If you are planning to attend the Junkanoo parade then Hilton Nassau would be a better location for one night.
The beach at the cove is nice and it is soft sand with no rocks so we did not need our water shoes. Also no one is harassing you to buy things which was a pleasant surprise!
Nobu was a good restaurant and we would go back. We had breakfast one day in Mosaic but did not see any fresh juices or exotic fruits such a papaya or mango which is found on the island. Atlantis could also use a juice bar which would be very popular for those of us who want a health conscious meal. There is also no specific vegetarian restaurant as well which is needed.
Going back home, I would recommend coming 3 hours earlier to the airport as there were long lines for checkin, security and US immigration.
Have fun on your trip!!

Atlantis is a huge property that comprises several very different areas. The Cove, together with the Reef, is the newest and most upscale area with its own pool area for adults only. It’s suites are modern and sleek. Other members of our group who stayed at the Royal reported dated and musty rooms. The Royal boasts the largest lobby area with a must see sunken aquarium. Together with the attached casino, it has a Vegas vibe. There are several pool areas, but most have cheap, uncomfortable lounges without pads. The aquatic park is great fun with areas for toddlers, slides that range from moderate to extreme, and a lazy river with a couple of rapids. The beaches are beautiful white sand with protected areas.
There are many restaurants on property, all of which will cause sticker shock. At the upscale eateries entrees generally start at $40. Everything is a la carte. A burger with any add ons will run you $20; pizza at $7 per slice. Every tab adds a 15% tip and a Large VAT. A drink on the beach will set you back $19. With all the taxes and gratuities added, a Cove suite will be $500 per night.
We spend a lot of time at Cabo and Riviera Maya all-inclusives, and were struck by one big difference here. In Mexico, we are made to feel welcome and appreciated. At the best resorts, nobody walks past without a smile and a “Buenas Dias”. Not so at Atlantis. Although we did meet some nice staff, most were, at best, indifferent. When asked reasonable questions, some were borderline rude. This happened with us and others trying to use the shuttle service on property which lacks adequate signage. Most staffers didn’t seem happy and we all felt it. Staffers were more likely to interact with each other than with guests. We do want to recognize Detra, the manager of the BBQ, who specially accommodated us when we arrived at closing. In our discussion about the staff attitudes it was clear she understands the challenge. We strongly suggest that Atlantis create a position of Brand Ambassador, tasked with training and guest relations across all departments and promote Detra.

First, we are experienced travelers, enjoy finer hotels and experiences, and are happy to pay for it. The good: the property and water features are beautifully maintained albeit a bit crowded in certain areas. We found the adults only Cove pool a wonderful and relaxing location and two of the pool attendants, Arool and Dav. made our experience very enjoyable. The Cove beach is also beautiful but beach lounges are not available in this area. The general staff, other than a few exceptions, were not well trained in hospitality and seemed aloof and unresponsive.

The bad: Our reservation for a suite away from noise and elevators was booked almost 9 months prior to our arrival last week. My spouse is a light sleeper and we always request rooms away from the elevator and ice machines due to sleep quality and we practice daily meditation. Upon check in, the front desk lied to us and our first room was directly adjacent to the very noisy elevator bank and ice machine. We stayed at the club level. Little effort was made to accommodate our room request and the walls of our room sounded like drum practice for a rock band. The hotel moved us across the hall, but the noise was still very loud and bothered our daughter for the remainder of our stay.

The club level food offerings were uninspiring and repeated daily with no innovation or creativity. Certainly not the Ritz Carlton club experience by any means!

The ugly: not much to be honest, just supremely disappointed with the room location and noise. It detracted significantly from our vacation experience.

I booked this room through Marriot Bonvoy. I’ve been here twice before and stayed at the Reef where I had a full kitchen and brought meals from home and stocked the fridge as well. Upon booking the Marriot agent (which is supposedly a direct line for Atlantis) told me because of my platinum status I would have club access and or breakfast. I then chose to stay at the Cove for those perks. I therefore came without snacks and breakfast items and didn’t stop at the supermarket for my kids. Upon check in I was told I had no perks and that the hotel is not “fully Marriot”. They then Told me I was upgraded to a deluxe room which was not the truth since my reservation was for a deluxe room. I showed them this on my phone. Meanwhile deluxe means high floor and they gave me a room on floor 5. They told me to call Marriot myself and work it out. Marriot tried to help me out but the Cove managers and staff had zero interest to try and work with me and didn’t have any experience with customer care. The manager on on call attempted to help me but when she saw Marriot was difficult to contact and work with she just gave up. They also were not knowledgeable of the catering services and even the number of tennis courts. The concierge told me there were 2 courts when I called from NY. meanwhile the website said six and they indeed have six. Basically all the perks which I confirmed multiple times with Marriot were not fulfilled and no attempt was made to try and help me somewhat.

Besides the let down the hotel is supposed to be the nicest of all the hotels on Atlantis property. Meanwhile there is no hot tub. Which adult only pool doesn’t have a hot tub??? The Cove pool barely gets any sun the building itself blocks it. The rooms are run down. Housekeeping is not on par I had to call daily for different items omitted in my service. My kids had fun but the WiFi is spotty so it is hard to stay in touch which is challenging.
Everything is so expensive. A daiquiri is $35. I have never heard of such a high price for a daiquiri. They literally get you on everything.
The one major great perk is the hotel is now serving kosher foods and fulfilling dietary needs. Kudos to Alexis Bonoby and Bill for arranging and running a wonderful kosher program. And for Rabbi Weinfeld and Rabbi Bluming’s for making it all so easy.
Will consider coming back only for the dietary needs but the hotel needs an entire remodel, the shuttles need to be more often and new, and most importantly the staff needs to be trained in customer service. If coming to the bahamas try Baha Mar.
A shout out to Troy at the tennis center who was honest and advised me properly and to Van the pro, for his good attitude, fun and skills

We stayed here the last week of February for one last "adults only" trip before our first child comes. We decided to spend more money for the better amenities at The Cove rather than the Reef, only to find out that they bussed over all The Reef guests to stay at The Cove. Even though we spent more money, we got worse a worse room than those that originally booked at The Reef.

They do not warn you before booking that all of The Beach water features such as the lazy river have been closed for over a year. The rest of the slides etc. are only open every other day.

They don't allow plastic on site, so they give you reusable water bottles. Great in concept, but our water and ice machine on our floor were broken the entire stay despite calling "engineering" daily. It was difficult to stay hydrated while being pregnant in the sun daily.

Elevators were broken when we arrived, so we got to start our stay by walking up 10 flights of stairs. Our toilet was also running the entire stay. They attempted to fix it twice, but just left wet, dirty towels behind without fixing the issue. I was also surprised to find that such a large hotel resort doesn't offer any sort of airport transportation.

Doesn't seem like they were prepared to reopen despite the same cost to stay at the resort prior to COVID.

The hotel is beautiful! The ambience, views, everything! The employees are very friendly. It is expensive though. The shops are nice...there are always beautiful swimsuits and cover ups, sandals, jewelry and bags but be prepared to spend A LOT! The pool is adults only. Obadiah (a pool attendant) has been very accommodating and good to our family over the years. His work ethic is outstanding! The music played is always good and the crowd is always fun. It is cashless so everything you order to eat or drink is charged to your room. The food is really good and the portions are big.

Even though we were skeptical about taking this vacation, we’re so happy and blessed to have gotten away for my birthday!! Leaving with such fond memories in our hearts of this beautiful country, this spectacular resort, the absolutely amazing staff and their unsurpassed hospitality ♥️

If anyone is hesitating visiting The Atlantis, Bahamas, please do not think twice and book your dream vacation!! This is the perfect time to travel and you will not regret this decision. The staff, from the greeters at the entrance to the VP of Operations, to the Senior VP and GM of the hotel, are unbelievably gracious and have taken hospitality to a whole new level.

There are enough activities to keep you and your kids occupied, the temperatures and weather at this time of the year is just perfect and there are plenty restaurants open for serving their guests. Aquaventure is open, and some rides are open on alternate days which gives you and opportunity to go on every one of them, the pools are open, and so are poolside restaurants.

If you wish to enjoy the sun, white sands, blue waters and a resort that’s not overly crowded and long lines, this is the perfect time to travel. The Atlantis has taken a lot of precautions to ensure guest safety and health, with clean sanitized rooms and surrounding, temperature checking stations at every entryway, sanitizing stations at every entryway and proper social distancing enforcement. They also have a in-resort COVID testing service so you don’t have to leave the resort bubble to get your travel requirements taken care of.

We recently spent 4 nights at The Cove starting on 12/20 and were surprised to see how far this property has declined in the last year. We have stayed at this property for 4 of the last 6 years during the Christmas week and this did not even seem like the same property.
1) Only 2 elevators were working creating very long lines of frustrated customers trying to get to their rooms with no social distancing possible.
2) We ordered dinner from room service and requested a wine glass be included with our order. When the order arrived there was no wine glass and we asked the room service employee if they could please bring one. When we walked back outside our room to give the employee a tip (who was supposedly on their way to get the wine glass), and we found him laughing with another employee and grabbing a used glass from a consumed room service order from another room across the hall. We asked them what they were doing and we don't want a used wine glass from the hallway...they said they were cleaning it off. After we told them we did not want to use a wiped-off wine glass from another person's room service tray, they then left to get a new "clean" glass. This left us feeling VERY concerned about the health standards of this once Luxury Atlantis Marriott Bonvoy hotel for the rest of our stay.
3. The lights were not working in the floor walkway to the once-grand entrance.
4. The quality and taste of the room service food were very poor with fine dining prices.

The Cove was a great idea. A high-end property at Atlantis where kids can enjoy water slides and adults can enjoy great restaurants, an adult pool, highly service cabanas and the like at the same property.

Here are my top takeaways:

1. Not nearly enough staff to handle holidays:

Restaurants often have 55 minute waits WHEN YOU HAVE A RESERVATION.

45 minute waits for anything from housekeeping such as towels, etc. (they admit this on the phone)

30 minute lines even for coffee at the on-propertyStarbucks.

15 minute lines to get a towel outside by the pool.

2. Food is largely inedible. A 2/10. Order simply and carefully no matter what the restaurant. I haven’t been to every restaurant but the basic dining, poolside lunch, and even the Bahamian Club (once a shining star) are truly subpar.

3. The rooms are tired and in need of an immediate update. Today, think clean Raddison.

It’s clear that the current owners are trying to get the property as profitable as they can and are willing to sacrifice almost anything—I understand as it went bankrupt once.

If you are looking for a higher-end experience on Nassau, I would recommend the One and Only or Baha Mar.

Assuming the main property at Atlantis is priced fairly, it could still be a good option for young or large families.

Unfortunately, The Cove is now neither fish nor foul. Overpriced and subpar but with a beautiful public lobby and a solid adult pool—those are the only two positives.

Yes, those items are provided at the Cove along with bottled water. The housekeeping team is amazing and will gladly provide you with additional shampoo, soap, conditioner and body wash along with as many waters as you ask for on a daily basis.

Are there indigo rooms in the front of the hotel (closer to the beachfront) or just in the back closer to the lagoon?

Wish I could help but haven’t had the privilege to stay in Indigo. We always have great ocean views in the regular ocean suites. Be there in 2 1/2 weeks!

Yes they are. Many of the slot machines were taken down or shut down. There were still many to use, but it was a change for sure. There are still plenty of gaming tables too, but it did surprise me how fewer slots there were. It would not stop be from going tho. There were plenty to play

Is the Sunday Brunch Restaurant venue open for daily lunch and or dinner?

I just saw this, Sorry for the super late reply. To answer your question the buffet restaurants serve their buffets every day, 3 tines a day. They can be pricy but if you have picky eaters in your family it’s probably the best option. Hope this helps.
