Everything is very expensive on Paradise Island, even the groceries are more than on the neighboring island where downtown Nassau is. So if you're wanting to stay on Paradise Island and are looking to save some money, Bayview Suites might be for you.

Now keep in mind you are not staying at a high class resort or a chain hotel, this is an independently run hotel which may not have all the bells and whistles you are used to. There is no free breakfast. You can buy breakfast at the pool, except when days you can't. They are closed two days a week. I just ended up buying waffles, cereal, etc. at the local mini-mart I walked to and made my own breakfast every day. I probably saved money, even though the grocery prices are high.

As far as your room, the A/C works great as does the wifi. The TV's are older (not smart TV's), smaller, and don't get many channels. The floors turned my feet black, sometimes right after getting out of the shower, so it wasn't dirt I got on my feet from outside. I recommend management have the cleaners mop the floors and clean the rugs more.

There was a power outage one morning where we lost power an hour. They said their generator didn't kick on for some reason.

They have two pools. You can find shade at both if you want to be poolside but not in the hot sun.

It is about a 6-minute walk to the nearest shopping center, where the mini-mart is and other shops. It is about 9-minute walk to the beach, and it is about an 8-minute walk to Marina Village at Atlantis and beyond that, Atlantis itself. It is about a 9-minute walk to Margaritaville and just beyond that the ferry to downtown Nassau. So everything is within walking distance.

If you are picky and like to criticize everything you might not like this hotel. Yes, there is rust, yes there are stains, yes everything is not new, but I did not see any bugs crawling around and the room was a bargain compared to other hotels. It was fine for what I needed it for, a place to stay on Paradise Island that wouldn't break the bank. Like I said in my title, this is a place for the budget-minded traveler. As long as you are not picky and want a quiet place to stay just a 9-minute walk to the beautiful beach then this is an OK place to stay.

I booked Bay View after my flight was canceled last minute and my current hotel was already fully booked. I have to say even though the property is a throwback in time (they even still handwrite guest registration cards!) it was a pleasant surprise.

If one is looking for the most modern amenities and full scale all inclusive perks, Bay View is not it. If one is looking for a comfortable, huge, fully equipped suite with (ground floor) a back yard - access to laundry, 3 pools (one morning we had the entire pool for 2.5 hours to ourselves), a flashback in time meal prepared (small kitchen with great breakfast), and friendly folks on staff - then Bay View is it.

The few downsides - I felt the front door was a little too high and I placed a towel down there to prevent anything from crawling in. The bathroom water pressure was high and temperature was blazing hot (which is great) but the bathroom shows signs of the age of the property and rusted in a few places. The yards connect in the back and I had a groundskeeper walking through while I was not prepared to see anyone near my bedroom, they should have it closed off with a gate at least and still leave a walkway for staff.

From a safety standpoint - I was not asked for my key when coming in very late one night and wondered how many other folks can just walk in to the property - that has to be tightened up. And we will definitely make Bay View a stop for a few days/nights on our next trip back.

Our check in experience was made extra special by Mr. Fountain - thanks for the telephone book look up!

Room tip: Ground floors have a garden/back yard access with table and chairs. Upper floors had a front balcony space with tables/chairs.

A great place to stay on Paradise Island!

The property is a bit dated, needs a bit of love and is not on the water but other than that, it's a great place to stay.

Our room, a King Suite was LARGE and very comfortable, it was well appointed with a full kitchen and a comfortable backyard.

The property is cozy, lush with plants, it has 3 pools all of decent size and two laundry facilities.

The dining available on property is good but not available 7 days a week, only Thursday to Sunday and 10 am - 3 pm. Dining off property is limited and pricy. Get your food and alcohol off of Paradise Island (20 min walk across the bridge) the value is WAY BETTER as is the selection.

Now for the best part of the resort - the people there were great, staff and guests alike - friendly and real, no pretentions.

This is not a loud, crazy property, it is laid back and relaxing.

We really enjoyed our stay here. What an adorable little retro resort!! Great price, great location, beautiful suites and lovely staff and property. It’s old. You need to know that. The TP leaves something to be desired. But if you can handle some cracks here and there, it’s a great value for the money. It’s very clean and well cared for. The pools are beautiful and very clean. We absolutely loved it and if we came back to Nassau for a non all-inclusive holiday, we would stay here again!!

Room tip: Within walking distance to everything on paradise island. If you plan to leave the island, a rental car is handy for adventuring.

Suite is huge and has a full kitchen, living area, two TVs and a safe. Lots of shaded areas to relax around the property, including two pools that are open to 10pm. Strong WiFi in the room. Toiletries and fresh towels, including pool towels, provided every day. Yes, the room is dated and could use a fresh coat of paint, but this is excellent value for money on an otherwise expensive island.

Cabbage Beach, a must-visit, is a 7-min walk if you take the shortcut the staff show you, not the Google Maps route. Atlantis is a 5-min walk.

They also own Anthony's and Dunkin Donuts so you get 10% off if you go.

Cornell, the security guard, is a friendly and helpful gentleman.

I was assigned a second story room because the clerk thought I would feel more safe since I was traveling alone, but I requested and was given a room on the first floor as I didn't want to cart up my suitcase. There are no elevators. I was surprised at how big my suite was. It had a sitting room, full kitchen, bathroom, large bedroom, and private patio. The kitchen was well-stocked so you could easily cook some meals for yourself. My room was clean and very comfortable. It was very quiet. The staff was helpful and friendly. The beach is not easy to find, but the hotel is close to Cabbage Beach. You can walk to a decent shopping area for groceries, restaurant food, and souvenirs. I'm glad I stayed here.
