So much potential

Reviewed Aug 29, 2018
Here is a 2 level hotel with clean rooms but in need of some serious updating and grounds keeping. We tried to stay here before heading out with Blackbeards dive cruise, but apparently there was a fire in a room and smoke detectors were not functioning properly, so they had to shut the entire property down. Blackbeards was so kind to help out and allow us to stay on the boat that night. What I see is if the owners of this establishment would spend some money, this could be a beautiful marina and stay. They were working on a restaurant.....which we heard they have been working on for the past years. Nothing moves fast in the Bahamas, and by the time we returned after a weeklong trip with Blackbeards, the roof cap that they were working on the day we left, was still not completed. Its a shame, because I think with grounds kept up and a nice restaurant, this place would rock and the boaters would love to stay at there slips.

Like most I stayed here for a Blackbeards cruise, Honestly, it is clean and not a bad place to stay if you are looking to keep it simple before a Blackbeards cruise. The water pressure runs a bit low on the top floor and you might not have water in the early morning hours. Like many others, there is security on the premises so it feels very safe, and there is just about anything you need right across the street in the shopping center. For the night before a Blackbeards cruise I would stay here again, but for the night after I would try to stay at Courtyard or Bestwestern as these are closer to town and are quite a bit nicer. Seeing the harbour club the place had potential, this could be really a great place to stay after some renovations. Also if you are a cruiser, this would not be a bad place to dock, as there were a few cruisers already there when I stayed, and the grocery store, pharmacy, bank, cell phone company, bookstore, clothing stores, and a star bucks (ie. decent internet) across the street. Showers, laundry, and swimming were also available to the marina guest.

Room tip: There is a laundry on site, but you have to get tokens from the office during regular business hours. Office closes around 5 pm.

Good place to stay for a night before getting on the Blackbeards Cruise. The place is so run down. I could only imagine this to be a good place in the 70s, but lack of up keep made this a dump. No housekeeping in between stays. The water pressure in the bathroom is a trickle! I wouldn't suggest to walk around the neighborhood at night.... pretty sketchy!

There is a Starbucks across the street and a couple of grocery stores.

With a week's worth of diving ahead of me on the Diving Vessel Morning Star, the Nassau Harbour Club was perfect for a quick overnight stay. The room was pretty average for what it was, but the price was perfect. Having to get boarded the next morning, the walk from the room to the boat was perfect. There is a swimming pool and plenty of room to lay around in the beautiful Bahamian weather. There are also community showers and bathrooms that were perfect after a week of sleeping on a sailboat. Unfortunately the swimming pool isn't heated however, during the day the water temperature is perfect. Overall, the club is perfect for what I utilized it for although I wouldn't plan a vacation and expect "vacation like" expectations.

Room tip: Perfect for charter guests going on Blackbeard's Liveaboards.

So where do I start? With sheets that had hairs on them or the water that was brown coming out of the shower for at least 2 minutes.....nah, I'll start wirh the mold in the bathroom and no light by the bed. The ONLY good thing is if you're going on a live aboard dive trip ( which will be awesome by the way) you won't have far to carry your dive gear. We asked for an extra towel at 6 pm and were told they wouldn't have any till morning.....sigh.....worst hotel I've ever stayed in so don't say I didn't warn you :-)
