The Grand Hyatt Baha Mar's extensive amenities, such as pools, beach access, and dining options, are highly praised, although some guests find them overpriced. The hotel's prime location is well-regarded; however, mixed reviews regarding service and room cleanliness suggest experiences can vary. While the vibrant atmosphere with nightly entertainment delights many, others are troubled by the noise level and inconsistent housekeeping. Reviewers also express concerns over high costs not always commensurate with the quality or service of food and drinks.

I stayed here for 4 nights in mid-Feb. The property if gorgeous, pools and beaches are beautiful. Overall it was a nice trip but for this price point, the service was definitely not what I expected.

Our room was not properly serviced by housekeeping once during our stay. Two days they never came at all. The two other days you could tell someone had been in the room, bed was made and trash taken out, but other than that nothing was done. We did not get any new amenities (shampoo, soap, etc) the entire stay. Had to call and ask for towels. Room was not vacuumed, dusted, etc.

The pools and beach are gorgeous but if you want a pool chair you better get out by 10am. They could do a much better job keeping people from putting a towel on a chair and then leaving the pool area for hours but I'm sure that's a challenge for all resorts.

The website advertises 6 pools but 3 of them are private (either for SLS hotel or you have to rent a cabana for $450 per day) so I think that's pretty misleading. We also had Baha Mar staff tell us we could us the pool at SLS only to walk all the way over there and be told by SLS that it was for their guests only. When we said we were told we could use it, they just said "yeah, that happens all the time".

There were a few standout service experiences, a great bartender at the Swimming Pig restaurant, a great waiter by the pool one day and friendly staff at Starbucks but in general the service was lacking and much of the staff seemed almost annoyed with you. At the Monkey Bar, I tried to order a lemon drop martini and a cosmo and was flippantly told by the bartender that she couldn't make either of those because they were out of lime juice. I didn't bother to argue the point that lime juice didn't go in either of those drinks.

A 20% service charge is automatically added to every bar/restaurant tab so perhaps they know they are getting a tip and don't bother to try too much.

Related to charges, be aware that no place on the property except the gift shop accepts cash. All bars/restaurants only take credit cards or room charge though they seemed put out if you actually wanted to use a card. Anything that is purchased outside at the pool or beach must be charged to the room. You can't pay with credit card. I was on a friends trip so this was really a pain for us. Having to try to keep track of everything you order outside and then split up the charges at checkout was annoying.

Everything at the resort is very expensive, but I would say that's to be expected at a destination like this. However, this is the first place I have traveled that added the 20% service charge and a 12% value added tax to everything so that made it even more pricey.

If you want to go to downtown Nassau, you can catch the bus for $1.25 (instead of $20 for a taxi).

Dear Bendalou, We appreciate you being our guest and taking the time to share your observations with the Tripadvisor community. Thank you for mentioning you found our resort to be beautiful and our grounds to be breathtaking. We strive to provide our guests with a variety of options and amenities to enjoy everything the Bahamas has to offer. I am disappointed to learn our service fell short during your stay, particularly with housekeeping. What you have described is not in line with the level of hospitality we strive to provide and I apologize for the poor impression this left you with. I certainly understand the importance of fresh towels and replenished toiletries and I will be discussing this within my team as we have inspection procedures in place so these items are not overlooked. Again, thank you for your valuable feedback as it helps us to improve and succeed as we move forward. It is our goal to deliver world-class experiences for all our guests; therefore, I hope you will accept my sincere apologies for these concerns. We would welcome the chance to have you revisit so we can provide a stay that is above and beyond your expectations. Sincerely, Gerald Ursulet Resort Manager

Only have been to The Bahamas when we cruise so it was really nice to come & stay at a resort for a few days. We decided on Baha Mar for a few reasons it’s newer than Atlantis and they had three hotel options. We choose to stay at the Grand Hyatt and I will have to say it was the right choice.

We arranged transportation via the hotel and it was very clear the cost was $77.50 don’t go by what other reviewers say. Mr. Solomon was our driver when we arrived and he was a complete joy. Mr. James was our driver on our departure & I wish I could take him home his personality was fabulous.

When we checked in I had booked a Fountain View Room but the room wasn’t ready so they offered a partial Ocean View Room in the West Tower which we took. All the reviews talked about the water park view and they are 100% accurate it’s not a great view but my husband & I are up early and at the pool all day so we didn’t care that much. Some reviews were pretty harsh & I can tell you although not thrilled with the view the room was perfect, clean, & the balcony was large. I will say next time I wouldn’t want that same room even if the water park is completed.

The staff were very friendly especially the manager of Madeleine Cafe (sorry I forgot her name) but she was lovely we met on Saturday morning. Kenny our waiter in Fila had a dynamic personality & so did the bar crew so good that we went back a second time & had dinner at the bar. Andrew was our server at the Swimming Pig & he too was loving life and really loved his job.

The pool crew work really hard especially the crew at the H2O pool when the invasion of the Kansas City people arrived. I have to say our first two days at the pool were fantastic and the staff were there to please but when Friday strolled around and 800 people from some company arrived it really put a damper on things they took the luxury & classiness away. So the negative is the resort is so large they can host multiple large groups.

We walked the beach a few times & in my opinion they put so much real estate in the resorts the beach wasn’t really doing it for us. I would say Aruba Hilton certainly does it better in that respect.

One tip I will give is pay close attention to your room charges we had a few mini bar charges showing up and had them removed which wasn’t a problem. They explained that that things are on a sensor so my guess is it relates to the cleaning crew checking on things when they cleaned the room. We never touch the mini bar we actually never even look for it.

Truly no complaints here and we would definitely head back next year (we can’t wait to see this water park).

We were very much looking forward to our vacation at the Hyatt starting on Christmas Day, but we were extremely disappointed. The first room we were assigned was filthy (looked like the toilet had not been cleaned in a year) and when we called the front desk they refused to change our room. We finally had to go downstairs to the desk and pay someone to obtain a better room. Our new room was gorgeous with a view of the water and a balcony. Next we looked for a place to eat and finally found 3 Tides, it was one of the few places open that was serving breakfast but the food to be tasteless. Overall we were unimpressed with the food at the Hyatt except at Filia and Pizza Lab which were excellent. Also, we had downloaded the Baha Mar app but beware that the closing times for the restaurants are not accurate. Finding a chair at any of the pools is impossible unless you pay a pool person. The casino and sports book were enjoyable! In general, we found that the staff do not go out of their way for guests unless you pay them. The only bright spot in the staff was Marshneil Bharadwaj, the Director of Rooms, who was wonderful and tried to improve our stay when our issues were brought to her attention. Ms. Bharadwaj is to be commended for her assistance and caring, we only wish that the entire staff were like her.

Dear SchnitzerShapiro, Thank you for spending your Christmas vacation here with us. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for highlighting the service provided by Marshneil, our Director of Rooms. We are indeed very lucky to have her as part of our team and I am glad that she made a positive difference in your stay. I am very sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced and was most concerned to read about some of the practices you have described, which are certainly not in line with our Grand Hyatt standards. Please be assured that we take your feedback very seriously and will discuss your concerns with the senior leadership of the hotel. We value all feedback from our guests, especially the ones that will help us to improve and succeed. Thank you once again for sharing this with us; it is very much appreciated. I hope that you will visit again soon and allow us the opportunity to correct these concerns and deliver the outstanding hospitality you and your family deserve. Thank you. My husband and I have stayed at some amazing resorts around the Caribbean including Ritz Carlton and Sandals resorts. While the resort is not as romantic as a Sandals and the service is not as exceptional as the Ritz Carlton overall we were very impressed! The resort is beautiful and has something for all ages! Its located in a perfect spot on the beach that is truly breathtaking! We went for my husbands 30th birthday and will definitely be back. While there aren't many options for breakfast we opted for Starbucks daily and did a combination of the food trucks and restaurants for lunch. Every meal we had there was great however, the Swimming Pig is truly the hidden gem for good prices on food and drinks. On average we spent between $200-$250/day on food. Drinks range between $10-$20 per drink.

In my opinion you get what you pay for and this is why we opted to stay at the Hyatt over an all inclusive. If you tip the housekeepers as you should anyways they tend to leave extra water in the rooms as that was the only unnecessary expense in our opinion.

Loved this property. The infinity pool by the beach is the nicest pool I have ever been too. It opens at 10am and it is worth waiting in line

I advise you to get up early (9am-ish) and find a pool/beach chair ASAP or you may have a hard time finding chairs. Patrons seem to leave towels on chairs and it is not clear if the chairs are occupied or not. Staff don’t seem to regulate this or care of you are searching for a chair. Seems like there are not enough chairs around the pools to seat all guests

Beach is beautiful and very crowded. Water is crystal blue and no seaweed debris like Mexico. Beautiful hotel grounds especially at Rosewood

Plenty bars and restaurants. Sky Bar and the bar at Rosewood are the nicest

Room was fine. We were never given fresh wash clothes. We had to call for wash clothes everyday. Cleaning staff left drink cups in the room daily that were clearly dirty. I would have thought that this caliber of hotel would have robes in the rooms.

Gym was one of the largest and nicest I have seen at a resort. Plenty of treadmills and a few group classes offered daily.

Not sure why the staff seem so bothered. They don’t smile or go out of the way for you. The seems unhappy. Lacey at the Jazzbar was the only employee who seemed to enjoy her job and seemed happy to assist the guests. She made a difference in our stay

Food and drinks were great and expensive but we knew that

I would recommend this hotel but you may want to wait until water park is completed because it seems very crowded.

Staff should be trained to smile and not act like guests are annoying

We really enjoyed are stay, it was are first time in the Bahamas and first time staying at a not all inclusive. It was a little nerve racking trying to keep track of what we spent since it’s a “ cashless” resort, so everything gets charged to your room and you pay at checkout. Food was way over priced!!! Are first meal was at the steak house we got a 6 oz fillet and a scoop of mash potatoes and a ceaser salad and each a Pepsi and it was almost 300$ American. At that point we were majorly concerned off how much it was gonna cost us to eat for the week. After that we pretty much stuck to the outside restaurants there was one pretty much right in the middle of the resort by the pool that was pretty good, their jerk chicken burger was amazing, I think we ate lunch there everyday. I think are cheapest meal was 70$ American. Upon check out it cost us 2300$ to eat for the week. I was pregnant so that’s withought ANY alcoholic beverages, if we were drinking like we usually do I can’t imagine how much it would have cost. A helpful hint : Do not remove anything from the mini bar unless you plan on paying for it and it’s EXTREMELY overpriced, its computerized so as soon as you remove something it automatically charges you. But besides the ridiculous cost of food everything else about are trip was really nice, beautiful grounds, lots of pools that were actually heated, rooms were nice, I’ve seen nicer at other 5* resorts but nothing to complain about. There was lots of walking because it’s a big resort didn’t help that I was 6 and a half months pregnant but what can ya do. The casino was huge and you get free drinks if your playing machines or gambling wich was a plus, the only time my husband drank. Over all a really nice trip the reason for the 3 star ratting was that the food was way to expensive, a can of coke was 6$, small bag of Doritos 8$ but I guess it’s kind of to be expected.

Dear amytrites, Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to review our resort. I am pleased to read all your positive comments about the hotel accommodations and resort facilities, and that overall you enjoyed your time with us. I am however disappointed to read you found the cost of our food and drinks too expensive. As an island resort, to ensure the highest variety and quality of the meals we offer, we have to import the majority of the goods and as a result, we are faced with added customs, duties and shipping cost that unfortunately need to be considered when we review the cost structure of our menus. We do exercise careful consideration with pricing and strive to offer a good range of quality offerings at various price points. You will be pleased to learn that we have recently opened a new restaurant called Pizza Lab, which offers classic Italian comfort food, ideal for families. We are also about to launch “Sugar Factory” and this I am sure will be ready before your next visit. Thank you very much once again for sharing your experience and providing us with your constructive feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back in a not too distant future. Thank you. This was our first trip since Covid as a family internationally. We picked this resort because of the policies they have listed on their website. We were glad to learn that the policies are being enforced with mask wearing inside especially in the stores.

Pros:
1. Quick check in and friendly faces all over the resort.
2. The room was large we opted for a one bedroom suite with a washer and dryer.
3. The room was clean and housekeeping was respectful that we didn’t wear shoes in the room and she followed suite
4. Housekeeping supplied us with a good amount of water to keep us hydrated
5. The hotel was quiet we didn’t hear our neighbors which is a huge plus for hotels
6. Beautiful property
7. So many options to choose from regarding pools, activities, beach, etc
8. The beach was well kept no seaweed on the shore
9. Waterpark was not crowded we did everything and it was clean. No long lines but it was still being built.
10. There was a cleaning crew literally all day making sure everything was disinfected
11. Lifeguards at the beach were engaged in keeping everyone safe
10. The cave pool was the best pool for families as it provided shade cool water and an aquarium
11. Hotel had plenty of restrooms outside and they were clean!

Cons:
1. We didn’t have liquid soap to wash dishes the first night
2. I tried for 5 days to get snorkeling masks and they didn’t have any and kept saying they will reserve some for us and didn’t
3. Room service was a one hour wait even for cereal
4. Room service wasn’t all that great especially for breakfast
5. The restaurants were severely understaffed crowded and expensive. We got our money back at those restaurants with poor food quality
6. As someone paying for a one bedroom suite I would expect the hotel to prepare the room with snorkel masks, beach toys and priority room service felt that was lacking for what we were paying for
7. A lot of restaurants and activities are closed Tuesday and Wednesday
8. Service on the beach and pool was severely delayed
9. Waterpark closes at 6 the sun is unrelenting during the day the best time to go is around 5. The water park is small and has limited attractions.
10. When we checked in my husband didn’t get a bracelet key because they ran out. It seems when we came there was high demand of people before us because the hotel was wiped out of several stuff.
11. You are at. A beach resort expect crazy high prices for food and drinks.
12. Service charge was included in every bill and several waiters asked for more tips so I am not sure if the service charge was a tip to the waiter. For bills larger than $150 it was steep
13. A lot of food items were sold out and weren’t restock

I would return again but I would hope for those paying a higher room rate would get some additional perks for the rate we paid.

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay with 3 other couples . We travel every year to a warm weather destination to relax and enjoy some time away from our busy lives in NY.

This resort is attached to the SLS and Rosewood, the Rosewood being more expensive but in my opinion , well worth the extra expense for a group like ours. Their beach lounge chairs had comfortable pads and was less crowded since it’s a smaller resort . The SLS was more of a young singles crowd filled with bachelorette parties and is under construction but has a great rooftop bar.

My biggest complaint with the Hyatt was that due to slight wind they would not allow open umbrellas on the beach for most of our stay. The other 2 hotels on either side DID allow them and they were inserted deep enough into the sand to be stable. The beach manager graciously brought us over to the pool area and arranged for chairs, but we go to the Bahamas for the beach, not to sit by a crowded pool.

The restaurants and drinks are very expensive, $300+ per couple for dinner each night (and this is coming from someone used to NYC prices!) The breakfast buffet at The Regatta was included with our room and had a wide variety of choices with lovely servers eager to bring out delicious hot coffee.

The rooms were large, modern and had an open bathroom layout that was very nice. The staff is helpful and eager to direct guests in the right direction since it’s such a large hotel that it’s easy to lose your way. You walk through the large casino no matter which way you turn and the signs look like Vegas which isn’t very tropical feeling .

Families from our area with young kids seem to like it due to it being an easy plane ride from the NY area, safe and enough shade by the pool area to make it enjoyable - plus there’s fun stuff for kids like feeding large jumping fish and pretty flamingos nearby and a kids club for ages 3+.

All in all I’d consider going back to Baha Mar due to the fast flight but would try The Rosewood next time ... and I prefer Aruba if I have a bit more time. The no-umbrella policy on the beach just was a turn off for us.

Dear JodyHewlettharbor_NY, Thank you for spending your vacation with us. We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay. It was a pleasure to read your positive comments regarding our guest rooms and all the fun-filled, family-friendly amenities we have to offer. We also appreciate your kind words regarding the helpfulness of our colleagues and we will be delighted to pass on your compliments. Thank you also, for your constructive feedback regarding the procedure around the use of umbrellas during high winds. At Hyatt, we take the wellbeing and safety of our guests as a priority and although we understand some of our guests may have been disappointed, we had to make a call to guaranty the safety of all around the beach. We strive to offer a world-class experience to every guest and we regret that your comfort was impacted by the inability to open the umbrellas. Again, thank you for staying with us and for sharing your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back in a not too distant future. Sincerely, Gerald Ursulet Resort Manager

I recently stayed in the east wing of the Grand Hyatt over Christmas. This was a particularly busy time but not overly crowded in any area. The hotel is similar to one in Las Vegas with a large casino, signage designs across the hotel and the restaurants scattered across the hotel. Reservations for restaurants are key and I am glad I booked early for them. The Shuang Ba restaurant was the highlight of the ones we visited.

The best parts of the hotel are the number of pools, one which lit up with fire at night as an attraction to see (which wasn't one to swim in for obvious reasons!) And the Breakfast buffet which is unlike any other I have had round the world. It is incredible. There are fountain shows, an ice rink and other events on all round the hotel which can occupy people of all ages. I have a five month baby and he loved seeing the flamingos and other animals across the resort.

The room we stayed in was a bit of an issue. The design of it was very odd and made every walkway narrow. The bedroom and bathroom doors could be opened up into one room but with luggage and baby stuff, it was a bit squashed fitting it all in with limited storage space. The staff were all very helpful in providing a microwave and kettle for the room and extra blankets for the cot.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. I would also book any cabanas in advance if you want one of these round the pool as space gets filled quickly. The bed reservations I did not agree with round the pool where people could reserve these very early in the morning with towels and not turn up till later. There is a 45 minute window when reserving after 9am but before that it seemed anyone could go down and throw something on a bed, leave it and come back later which meant it was difficult finding beds after breakfast. I suspect this was because it was a very busy period but I would change that rule so it was 45 minutes at any time to stop people taking beds very early.

Dear Hoops87, Thank you for choosing the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar during Christmas. We are delighted to see that you and your little one were comfortable here and enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your very positive comments about the resort amenities, especially pools as well as the restaurant. It is also great to read you loved our attentive staff and delectable breakfast as well. However, we regret the layout of your room was not up to your satisfaction. We value all your feedback, especially the ones that will help us to improve and succeed. We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you and your family again. Thank you, Gerald Ursulet Resort Manager

The hotel and the Baha Mar complex in general is well put together. The restaurants and beachside airstreams are cool looking and offer great food options. The beach is nice and the artificial reef draws in some marine life - you can see turtles in pretty much any snorkel attempt. Rooms are tastefully appointed, showers are great.

So why only 3 stars in this review? Essentially for 2 reasons:
1. Laundry: For reasons I can't understand, the hotel does not have laundry on site. They commit to bring you back your laundry by 7, but they never do. So if you are counting on your laundry in time for dinner, you shouldn't... And attempts to resolve the issue with housekeeping are futile and frustrating. All they do is tell you stories about the clothes being on the way (they aren't), or act like it wasn't even supposed to be back by 7 (it was).
2. Water sports: We signed up for the parasail, which we were told would be a 7-10 ,minute experience that cost $160. Pricey, but this is the Bahamas after all so we went ahead and booked. The parasailing staff was a disgrace. We were up in the air for only 4.5 minutes and when we were done the operator (who looked like a meth-head) had the audacity to give us a speech about how they work for tips (right....) and how if we don't tip him his 12 kids will go hungry (right again....). Needless to say, his kids are still going hungry because if there's one thing you're not getting for cutting our experience short by 50% is a tip.

Dear travelfiend_30, Thank you for taking the time to share your candid feedback with the Trip Advisor community. While we were pleased to hear that you overall enjoyed your stay with us, I am sorry to learn that you were disappointed with some aspects of your stay. I note your comments related to the laundry service and apologize for the delay in returning your belongings on time. I also regret to learn about your parasailing experience and whilst we do not manage this particular activity ourselves, I will be sure to share your feedback with their manager as I can understand your disappointment with the experience. I am delighted to learn that you made the most of our world-class facilities and thank you once again for your constructive feedback. We look forward welcoming you back in a not too distant future. Thank you. Sincerely, Gerald Ursulet Resort Manager

You can’t step outside on the Juliet balcony (more of an oversized window) but you can still see a bit of the ocean if you get ocean views.
