If I ever pictured a family run hotel in the Swiss Alps, I would have pictured this hotel. No frills, but clean and comfortable. Beautiful views out every window and very convenient for taking the train up to the Jungfraujoch glacier.

Review of Hotel Schonbuhl

We stayed here as part of a tour group so potentially a different experience in regards to dining etc. The owner's sporting past certainly gives a unique vibe to the place and the lobby is fantastic. All the rooms have some kind of view of the snow capped mountains as this area is just sensational.
We were on the top floor and the accomodation while modernised is not your usual accomodation. It was more of a luxury cabin type room. No television or wifi up in the rooms but when you are in such a beautiful place there really is no need for it. In my opinion anyone complaining about such issues needs to relax a little because they can't be enjoying their holiday!
The meals we had here were delicious and the bar is open till 11:30 with very good prices compared to what we found in Interlaken. There was a table tennis table, games room and a pool which wasn't open given the temperature. The building is 4 levels with a lift only getting to the 3rd level. Being on the 4th level this was the only small fault we had with the hotel but we managed!
We had great service from Urs and his team and would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic views from all around the hotel. Rooms also had great views.
The accommodation was quite good, for a three star hotel.
Staff were friendly and helpful, the owner however is a different story. He was arrogant and not at all accommodating. He dictated when guests were able to go to the dining room for meals. Very strict with times and the meals were very ordinary. Bland. Not at all what I would expect from European cuisine.

This is an excellent budget Hotel with good en suite facilities in the adult rooms. Hotel Schonbuhl has, undoubtedly the best view over the Jungfrau range of mountains of anywhere in the village of Wilderswil. The food is of good quality and although a set menu, there are plentiful amounts and always extra if required. I have now visited this Hotel over 40 times and the owner and his family always make us feel very welcome. The Hotel has an excellent bar with very reasonable prices.

The hotel tries to cut costs therefore many things in the hotels are made of cheap matereials, however, everthing is clean . Owner and his wife do everything including serving food. Both have a terrible attitude toward their guests. He treats everyone as though he's doing you a big favor by letting you stay there. There are strict rules about everything including on one under 18 can use the lift. Really?
No TV's in rooms. Weak WiFi in the lobby only. Food is fair but small portions.
Stay someplace else !!

There are a few 3 stars hôtels which desserve to receive a better quotation but which cannot receive it for technical reasons : for instance, the rooms are not equiped with a minibar or the hotel does not offer a night service. The Schönbühl hotel enters this category. The service is absolutely great, all employees are cheerful and thoughtful, the rooms are clean and carefully prepared and the food is very good, even excellent if you take into consideration the fact that the meals ar not expensive. Just a piece of advice : do not forget to ask for a room with a view on the lake, if there are some left. You will enjoy the marvelous view.
Room tip: the rooms with a view on the lake are preferable
