Benoît Dessureault and his team always deliver and Chez Delmo, historically has been a favorite haunt of my Fathers, the late Captain Ivan I. Coric ! In the old days, at its original location, we used to go for those famous lunches that included at least a litre of wine and dozens of oysters. The owner, from Marseille, was always on hand at the door, menus in hand, greeting his guests. It was such a treat and continues to be. I am coming back soon.

One of the best meals we’ve had in years. We started with the cheese plate followed by the most amazing beef carpaccio. Our entrees were the seafood pasta cooked to perfection and the halibut which was cooked perfectly also and delicious. The service was exceptional, not once did our wine go unpoured, they really seem to work as a well oiled machine, our waiter looked at our table every time he walked by attending to every detail, really a pro. Dessert was Creme brûlée’s with a beautifully dint sugar crust. The entire experience was exceptional I highly recommend Chez Delmo!!!

Chez Delno can be magical even at lunch. The table d'hote has terrific fresh fish no matter what season. Dinners are worth every penny. Where else can you get arctic char, grayling, walleye and gravlax cooked perfectly? And served with the perfect wine? This is old Montreal at its best, lovely atmosphere and warm, professional service. Charles was our waiter, so charming and efficient.

We picked this restaurant because of all the good reviews; however, our experience was terrible. We do not leave complaints as we work in the industry but thought it was important that no one else’s occasion is ruined. The food was lacklustre at best, everything was under seasoned. The pasta was flavourless and overcooked. We waited for two hours for this horrendous meal so picked at it. The owner noticed our full plates and rudely as if “we were okay?” No introduction so we didn’t even know who he was. He then proceeded to tell us that other people like the dish so…. (And then he stared)….. sorry….. (more awkward staring….so uncomfortable! He said he would speak to the kitchen and never returned, he then sent the server with the full bill. She was mortified and apologized on his behalf.
Save your money and time. DO NOT COME HERE!

Many many years ago we stumbled upon this great seafood restaurant ! ( opened over 50 years) Great for lunch as well>
I love there escargot(12) $25 & their beef carpaccio$25 is delicious with all the notes of pesto, pine nuts & evoo
I always have the Canadian meunière fish$44 almost half price of the imported version, their scallops $50 are always perfectly grilled & a nice size. I had the surf & turf this past summer a tasty perfectly cooked rib eye with huge lobster tail with a side of hot clarified butter ;)))
(I love watching them reset a table for the next guest, one of the only restaurants in the city that takes the 10 seconds to put on a pair of white cotton gloves to handle & wipe the fresh cutlery. A practice common to fine dinning restaurants !)

Best fish ever eaten this side of Paris, and all staff dressed and masked to make me feel so safe. Staff were wonderful, and managed to catch a glimpse of kitchen staff, they were fully masked and gloved. Left after a delicious dinner, feeling satisfied and happy.

I stopped by Chez Delmo last night after wandering around the Notre Dame area sight seeing. The atmosphere looked welcoming, and also like there wouldn't be a wait, and I was right! I was seated immediately at the bar, and was assured that the bartender made excellent cocktails. I ordered a Vespa (their take on the traditional Vespar martini), which was so tasty - nice and cold with an orange twist. The atmosphere was welcoming, with many historical elements, including bar seating from the 60s and beautiful murals on the walls.
I ordered the salmon tartare which was delicious. Fresh salmon, capers, citrus and spices. It came with three crostini, but when the waiter noticed that I still had some tartare left but was running low on crostini, he brought me more without me having to ask. I wasn't going to get dessert, but on the recommendation of the waiter I got the pudding with maple and cream (I don't remember the exact name) and it was so creamy and sweet without being overpowering. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

I visited Chez Delmo for an impromptu fine dinner on a snowy/rainy Wednesday night. I was pleasantly surprised that, not only had the menu changed slightly since my last visit, but the overall presentation appeared improved, and they added some 0% beer, which is great when you have to drive home. It's obvious that great care to client satisfaction is this restaurant's signature.
The service was, as usual, top notch and warmhearted. My meal was delicious. This time around, I sampled the Pâtes maison au magret de canard dans une sauce au vin (homemade pasta with duck breast in wine sauce), a new dish, which was simply divine. And perfectly portioned. Once again, a memorable visit.

From my phone call letting them know I was going to be a few minutes late for my reservation until the second I left, service was absolutely beyond outstanding and top-notch. I could write about this place for hours. I will try to do it justice.
If you are looking to have an incredible 5 star experience, in a classy setting, with excellent food and (dare I mention again.. magnificent service), this is the place. It was the first heavy snow of the season, so they gave us a table by a window and it felt like I was in a movie.
Now the food, we had the most delicious lobster bisque I have ever had in my life. We also ordered calamari for appetizer. For our main course, we ordered squid ink fettuccini with scallops and cod. It was terrific. For dessert, I can't remember the name, but it was a pudding/cake with a maple syrup sauce, it was truly divine.
William and his father (the owner) were kind, they took the time to chat with us, to make us feel like they were so happy we were there; we really appreciated their efforts to make us feel so welcome. thank you so much.
I reckon I might have just added a new restaurant to my list of top 5 best restaurant experiences of my life.

Chez Delmo is a very special place. The owners Benoit and Adam deserve to be proud.
The food is outstanding and the focus on fish and seafood is some of the best in North America and beyond.
The dover sole is a show stopper which is no doubt as it's the restaurant's signature dish. It's perfect. Make sure you have it with frites for extra dipping into the remarkable brown butter sauce.
All the dishes are done right and have a special "house touch" that is familar but hard to identify - true restaurant magic. Tip my hat to the kitchen.
Benoit was a perfect host - treated all of us like friends.
My daugther is starting her second year at McGill and we've been twice in the past, but Chez Delmo will now be a must-do stop every time I'm in Montreal.

Make a reservation. Not large portions but excellent quality.
Best snow crab soup I’ve ever had. Everyone liked their food but guys felt portions were really small for price. Great service

Service was good throughout the meal and the ambiance is ok but nothing special. My wife’s food of endive salad and salmon was decent but my escargots were very chewy and my walleye was sautéed in burnt butter giving it a real nasty taste. My wife wanted to replace her side dish of mashed potatoes with vegetables but according to waiter the kitchen does not allow substitutions. You would have thought that with the reputation of this long time restaurant would be ok but alas not. One of my worst experiences in a Montreal restaurant.

Everything about this restaurant, from the murals by indigenous artists which are painted directly on the walls, to the quality of the food and wine speak to a commitment to not just creating a meal, but a dining experience. My husband began with an order of oysters which he said were excellent. For our main courses I had the walleye amandine and my husband had the dover sole which was served and deboned at our table. We had glasses of sancerre and sauvignon blanc to accompany our entrees. I was in heaven! We had tiramisu and espresso to end our meal. We liked that the waiter/manager came by a couple times to check on us and on our way out also asked specifically about the dover sole, which can be tough to get. If we are ever in Montreal again, we will definitely return to this excellent restaurant.

Very good Friend of mine was in Town from the Caribbean this week. I personally am on a special diet and can only eat Seafood so we looked for a restaurant that served that but with a good rating. Chez Delmo seemed to be a choice that was fair enough to try. Now bear in mind that I am a critic that will tell it as it is without filter. We were greeted warmly by the host and our Jackets were hung up for us. Once seated, we didn't wait long to be greeted by our Waiter and asked wahat we would like yo drink. After ordering our entrees and food, we were given complimentary taste of something that I forgot the name of but found it unique but very tasty. For Supper, my friend ordered the Surf and Turf and I had the Holland Dover Sole. The Food was cooked just right and very tasty. The Ungava Gin Tonic / Soda was well proportioned and tasted just right. If I can give this restaurant 20 stars I would because honestly the experience there was so good. I highly recommend Chez Delmo. I certainly will be going back very soonand will definitely bring friends and family to experience this Beautiful restaurant. Thanks for reading and thank you Chez Delmo for such a wonderful experience.

We had some of the best fish we have ever had here last week. Both the cod and the walleye were outstanding. Even the grilled vegetables were extra special. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. The meal with wine and appetizers was reasonably priced, particularly for the city.
