Beautiful walk with amazing views (but choose a good path if running it)
What an amazing view! I did this walk as a 5km jog, which was amazing. However, I think I should have chosen the other path as the one I took (the shorter of the two paths) was a bit difficult to run along due to the square blocks that make up the path. It looks from the photos that the longer path might have smoother running ground. Such a wonderful experience and gorgeous view. The path I ran took you up a hill and into a little village where you could grab lunch as well if you wanted to. Highly recommend!

    Lovely morning walk
I read a number of reviews as I have bad knees and wanted to make sure I could do this walk. It isn’t a difficult walk but neither is it easy. If you go from the Karsa Kafe end then it’s easy as you won’t have all the uphill gradients, I would have struggled a bit coming the other way. It is all paved so easy to walk on. The rice paddies are only at the start before you get to the entrance of the walk. The views over to the hills are lovely and there is quite a bit of shade. I didn’t find it hot at all and we went at 0800. My watch said we did 2.7 Km’s from drop off point to the Ibah Hotel where you end. It was lovely at the end of the walk with the river and the temple. It took us under an hour and we stopped to take photos along the way.

Immerse yourself in the lushness of Ubud!
Great walk! Definitely go in early morning before it’s too hot as there r lots of areas with no shade. Also, lots of steps! After a while of walking, you will find a sweet village where you can purchase a beverage and shop. I purchased a piece of art from a wonderful Balinese man. He will roll up the art so it’s easy to carry back down the trail. This walk is a MUST when visiting Ubud!

    It’s a hill 😂
If you don’t like walking uphill then give this one a miss. It’s really pretty and a lovely walk to do but you do have to mind your footing as the slabs aren’t evenly placed. I’ll say it was pretty busy in places and wasn’t what I expected from the photographs I’ve seen but seeing all the houses built into the hills is lovely and listening to the river rather than the hum of engines is also a nice change.

    Pleasant early-morning walk
We did the walk at 6:30am which was a good time of day. Not too hot at the start, but it warmed up quickly as the sun rose higher. We left from outside Ibah Hotel, so the walk was uphill most of the way. It finally flattens out when you reach the rice fields. The scenery was pleasant, especially at the start of the walk when the path goes through forest and past the temple. Not spectacular, but if you treat it as a stroll in nature it’s a nice way to start the day. If you have trouble with going up stairs and walking uphill for a few kilometers though, it’s probably best to do the walk in reverse.

Peaceful walk, scenery is a little underwhelming
As usual this was a poorly signposted trail so a little tricky to find the beginning. Once you start it is really a nice surprise how soon the city sounds fade away and you’re fully immersed in nature. We started at 7am and there were already quite a few people who had completed their walks by the time we started. On the one hand it’s much quieter than the rice fields walk which is great and is much more relaxing. On the other, the scenery doesn’t really compare to the rice fields either. After the gate which marks the end of the walk itself, there are some nice cafes, warungs and little art workshops. All in all a good way to start the day in Ubud

    Easy morning walk
View was good. We went on the morning for a breakfast at a local wearing near the exit and walked backwards towards Ubud. Walk was short (~30 mins) and manageable for older folks. The were areas of steeper slopes but in general it is manageable with shoes with good traction.

    Nice walk.
I was expecting spectacular views which were a bit disappointing. That said, it was nice to get out of central Ubud and walk along the ridge and through the trees. Easy path to find and follow and not too long. A bit steep in sections so potentially not suitable for those with mobility/knee issues. Some lovely cafes/earrings along the way. This walk is best done early in the morning or later in the day avoiding the worst heat.

Right in the center of Ubud, take a detour for a dip in the greenery.
I loved taking the paved path which passes over a bridge, alongside a temple, to go deeper into the forest before reaching the summits. I wandered through the rice fields, bought a very pretty illustration, had a snack at Bird Hill (magnificent)... I went there early in the morning, I was there alone most of the time. I sweated a lot (take water), but the hike (completely accessible) is well worth it.

Audio tour of Csmpuhun Ridge Ubud wd loved it
We took a self guided audio tour by the voicemap app And we started from the top and ended at the stone gates. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the ridge and of who used to live there It's best to go early mornings as it can be hot and humid. Great audio tour. Worthwhile

  • Yeh Pulu Temple Hotels
Yeh Pulu Temple Build on 14th or 15th century and are in a very attractive rice field setting. You can reach Yeh Pulu on foot through the rice fields from Goa Gajah but you will definitely need a guide for the 45 minute walk as there is no path to speak of. Alternatively turn off the Ubud to Gianyar main road about 400 metres east of the entrance to the Goa Gajah complex. Drive through Banjar Batulumbang until the road comes to an end. For here walk down the track to Yeh Pulu passing the small warung on your left. As well as the carvings there is a holy well here and the attendant priest will be happy to bless you with the well water. Temple dress code applies here. Yeh Pulu is a much under-rated and under-visited site - highly recommended.
