De Munut Balinese Resort is stunning, although the location is far away from the busy town, it's worth it if you need a relaxing and peaceful place to stay in Bali. The rooms were amazing also as is always clean. The staff were very kind and helpful throughout the days if needed. The breakfast there was so fascinating and also delicious, and we could pick our own mains and side drinks based on our choices of taste. This place is very welcoming and peaceful, away from the loud noises in central Ubud and busy towns. Staying here is very relaxing, and we enjoyed our time here for a few days, but I recommend this resort because the vibe is so peaceful, and additionally, the garden is also stunning good to take pictures.

I have just stayed 12 lovely days at De Munut resort. The setting and gardens are beautiful and so calming when coming in from a busy road. The deluxe room I stayed in was spacious, clean and had a relatively private verandah. The location is good-a lot less busy than Ubud centre but is only a short walk away. The staff were very friendly and helpful and Lasmi at the attached spa (very convenient!) did a wonderful massage.
A few minor maintenance issues - the tap to the shower mixer kept falling off, a number of loose tiles in the upper pool and the breakfast menu is very limited. However, I enjoyed my stay and would happily revisit De Munut resort.

We stayed at the De Mumut hotel for 3 nights and 2 days. This hotel is an older establishment, needs a little updating but in general is ok. if you can get a room across the street at Sri Ratih Cottage, I would pick that first, a bit more beautiful and updated.

Food & rooms are average, but price was good.

Spa- I had a pedicure, please don't get one here, it was a bit of a disaster. Not sure about the massages.

The hotel itself is nice; beautiful pool, spacious room, nice (albeit a tad odd due to being outdoors) bathroom. The sheets on the bed were dirty, but we did manage to have a new set brought to us in the evening.
The staff was friendly, but didn't seem to know where their hotel was. They state that they're a 45 min drive from the airport but the ride to the hotel took nearly an hour and a half and the return trip took over an hour. When we asked for directions to Ubud Market, we were sent in the wrong direction and what should have been a 15 min walk turned into several hours of being lost. It doesn't help that the road down to the main street is tiny with no sidewalk, so you have to jump into the mud when cars drive by.
The food was delicious. Both the breakfast and the room service meals were prepared well.

First off, the Agoda location for this hotel was WAY off. They originally had it located across the street from the main museum and it looked like it was right smack in the center of town. It is not. It is up a hill about 1 km from town.

This is a nice place to relax by the pool and unwind. However, it is not convenient to any of the sites you'll want to see and good luck getting a taxi. There is no on-site restaurant besides an okay breakfast. The TV had very few channels.

A top place to stay in Ubud - close to the heart but in a more interesting location near enough to the Bintang Supermarket, lots of great food a the nearby Warungs & juice bars.

The hotel itself features second-to-none hospitality as we couldn't wish for more in terms of friendly service, daily servicing of the rooms was thorough & very clean, the staff at the Spa went out of their way to please (especially Ayu & Inthung).

The pools are clean, the gardens constantly maintained - heaven on earth.

Little details down to laundry service put the icing on the cake.

If I was to find one negative - I would've loved some juice at breakfast & a bit more variation over our 8-day stay.

All up, a most enjoyable place to stay in a great location away from the busy hustle but a nice walk to get there. Or cheap taxis are nearby for those wishing to cut out the walk.

Can't recommend highly enough! - we could've done with another week tho'

We stayed at De Munut in Ubud for 9 nights in July 2014. We have been to Ubud previously so picked this Hotel due to location mainly and also cost. We booked online through Agoda.

Our stay at De Munut was mixed so we have outlined the positives and negatives below:

Negatives

Food at the hotel:
Breakfast food was very average, not much choice and quite stingy (was not a buffet - al a carte with 3 options) - many times elements of the limited options were also left off the plate. We had hair in food on 2 separate occasions and more often than not food in general was cold. There was also one occasion where we were waiting for our breakfast to arrive and the waitress very loudly cleared her throat into the garden nearby whilst our breakfast was arriving at our table.
Room service was very average with food arriving cold most of the time. Best dishes were the Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng. Tea and Coffee facilities in the room were also average and very limited. No milk provided in the rooms.

Hotel rooms:
The walls are extremely thin, when we arrived we were in a room next to 2 adults and 4 children in the one room - the kids started screamed at about 5am each morning waking us up every day. We enquired about a room change with reception and were promised a new room the next day so the next morning we packed up all our bags and left them to be transferred to our new room.
When we returned to the hotel that afternoon we were told that there were no other rooms available that day (they made a mistake) and that we would be moved the next day.
We moved to an upstairs room after another sleepless night (which we had to drag our bags upstairs to) which was very nice and had beautiful views of the rice paddies from the balcony. Not too happy to wake up to a dead cockroach one morning though.

Hotel Spa:
Don't really recommend, we got a massage on our first day and the ladies were quite rough! Better massages in town and cheaper.

Positives

Location:
We like this area of Ubud as it's set away from the main street but still walking distance to restaurants etc. We hire a scooter when in Bali but I can imagine the hill out the front of the Hotel into town would be a bit difficult on foot. Scooter hire location (Santai Tours) is walking distance from the Hotel and we have used this scooter hire company 2 years running - can highly recommend.

Hotel rooms:
The rooms are a good size with everything you need (storage, safe etc). The indoor/outdoor bathrooms are beautiful and having a shower under the Ubud night sky was a lovely experience.

Staff:
All the staff were very friendly and polite and did accommodate our request for a room change.

Hotel in general:
The pools are lovely and a nice way to spend the afternoon relaxing. The Hotel in general is beautiful and very tidy and clean.

Overall was pretty good for the cost of the hotel but unfortunately there were a few negatives that dampened our experience.

I loved Munut so much 6 months ago that I decided to stay again and what a surprise to find the rooms have been beautifully renovated. Still quiet and relaxing and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. New luxury rooms and pool being built at back of property which I'm looking forward to trying out next trip. Didn't notice any construction noise at all.

I stayed here for a night after walking around Ubud trying to decide where to stay. Happened to walk a bit further out of the central city area and up a hill and felt a pull to this hotel after peeking through the gateway. Walked in to ask at the counter and was quoted a standard price which was above my budget but then checked online and got a super good deal with Agoda.com for a night’s stay. Always worth checking the travel apps for better prices.

Loved the books and reading/sitting area around the foyer as I entered. Probably what enticed me to stay, although I didn’t spend any time reading while here. Made it feel cozy somehow. As you walk further in past reception you will completely leave the street behind and immerse yourself in the best feature of this hotel- the gardens. Perfectly maintained and immaculately manicured, the lush surroundings are very inviting and are perfect surroundings for the 2 swimming pools available on this property. Thought it was really a bonus to have 2 pools as I got the main pool to myself the entire morning as the guests in the different bungalow used the pool directly in front of their rooms.

The rooms are nice with large windows. Mine was overlooking the garden. I thought it was really decent and loved the outdoor bathroom- the bathroom opens up to natural light in a corner with its own small garden. There is also a wide concrete bathtub which is also a plus but decided to use the pool and save water instead. They also provide portable racks outside the room for hanging your towel or wet clothes which is thoughtful. Also appreciated the fact that the bungalows look like they are well maintained.

Breakfast was basic and just as other guest have pointed out. You can choose between an omelet, a Balinese fruit pancake (not European fluffy ones & also comes with 2 slices of French toast), or a sandwich. This is also accompanied by a fruit juice of your choice (from the menu) blended to order. Decided to go for the papaya juice which was ok but must mention the welcome drink (sun melon) I got on arrival which was exceptional!

I noticed that the hotel is also a spa and noted that the prices of their massages, facials, etc were very reasonable for a ‘hotel’. Would’ve definitely booked to have one if I had stayed longer. The spa building beside the main pool looked well maintained and very nice.

Overall I liked the location which was away from central Ubud but right next to Zest (a good landmark as a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant) and a relatively doable walk from town. Would def be a contender for me to stay at on my next visit.
