I stayed here for a night after walking around Ubud trying to decide where to stay. Happened to walk a bit further out of the central city area and up a hill and felt a pull to this hotel after peeking through the gateway. Walked in to ask at the counter and was quoted a standard price which was above my budget but then checked online and got a super good deal with Agoda.com for a night’s stay. Always worth checking the travel apps for better prices.
Loved the books and reading/sitting area around the foyer as I entered. Probably what enticed me to stay, although I didn’t spend any time reading while here. Made it feel cozy somehow. As you walk further in past reception you will completely leave the street behind and immerse yourself in the best feature of this hotel- the gardens. Perfectly maintained and immaculately manicured, the lush surroundings are very inviting and are perfect surroundings for the 2 swimming pools available on this property. Thought it was really a bonus to have 2 pools as I got the main pool to myself the entire morning as the guests in the different bungalow used the pool directly in front of their rooms.
The rooms are nice with large windows. Mine was overlooking the garden. I thought it was really decent and loved the outdoor bathroom- the bathroom opens up to natural light in a corner with its own small garden. There is also a wide concrete bathtub which is also a plus but decided to use the pool and save water instead. They also provide portable racks outside the room for hanging your towel or wet clothes which is thoughtful. Also appreciated the fact that the bungalows look like they are well maintained.
Breakfast was basic and just as other guest have pointed out. You can choose between an omelet, a Balinese fruit pancake (not European fluffy ones & also comes with 2 slices of French toast), or a sandwich. This is also accompanied by a fruit juice of your choice (from the menu) blended to order. Decided to go for the papaya juice which was ok but must mention the welcome drink (sun melon) I got on arrival which was exceptional!
I noticed that the hotel is also a spa and noted that the prices of their massages, facials, etc were very reasonable for a ‘hotel’. Would’ve definitely booked to have one if I had stayed longer. The spa building beside the main pool looked well maintained and very nice.
Overall I liked the location which was away from central Ubud but right next to Zest (a good landmark as a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant) and a relatively doable walk from town. Would def be a contender for me to stay at on my next visit.
