Nestled in a prime location, the Accra Beach Hotel & Spa delights many guests with its proximity to local attractions and its vibrant atmosphere, complemented by stunning ocean views. However, some travelers have expressed dissatisfaction with the hotel's inconsistent service and amenities, which range from a well-maintained beach and pool to concerns over maintenance and cleanliness. While the rooms vary in quality, the lively entertainment offerings and the hotel's location remain a highlight for visitors.

Don’t be put off by the bad reviews. We were dreading the hotel after what we read. It turned out to be quite the opposite and we are very fussy about hotels etc.
The reception staff were wonderful, nothing too much trouble. We had a room in the new block with a great view. Yes it was a bit dated but it was clean and fine. The toilet didn’t flush properly but within 20 minutes it was fixed. The shower was a bit tired but it worked and we always had hot waiter. The pool area and beach are wonderful. However you have to get to the beach at 6am to get a good bed. Not a problem as I get up early and I did stay on the beach from 6am chatting to other guests. It is VERY WRONG to reserve beds(sometimes 8 reserved in one group) and not turn up until midday. The sunbed guys get a hard time over this and the hotel management should enforce a rule that is your not on them by 9am your book, towel and belongings are taken off. The breakfast staff were not very friendly so we ate at the magical Blue Pineapple that is a 5 minute walk along the beach at the start of the Boardwalk. Much nicer and much cheaper. This hotel is in a great location with shops, smoothie bars etc across he road. We would return.

The location on the southcoast is great - approx half an hour from the airport. Security are stationed front and back of the hotel and there is room to park a hire car outside. The staff are helpful and friendly. The food at the hotel is expensive and therefore we opted for room only. Rooms are clean, but in definite need of a little tlc and corridors are in definite need of a makeover. Flooring needs replacing and varnish is coming off the doors. Our junior suite was much bigger than expected and we were delighted at the space, as our daughter was sharing with us. Great to have a jacuzzi bath which we had not expected. We were supposed to have a balcony however ours was a sliding door with railings and although we could see the sea, we had a view over the run down remnants of a building. On opening the sliding door we had a duct down below which blew out foody smells and was noisy. Entertainment was lacking and themed dinners were too expensive to join in with. It was great to have restaurants nearby and an arcade straight across the road with a fabulous gift shop and food outlets. We had a problem with the water supply whilst we were staying, however we were told this was island wide. We asked and were compenated for this. There was a lifeguard on the beach although we often saw him wondering around rather than looking out to sea! Swimming was reatively safe ad the water so clear and warm. Free sunbeds and umbrellas. We also witnessed cannabis being sold and used nearby but did not see any trouble. We would stay again if there was re-decoration.

After reading the reviews we did wonder wether to book. We had two pool view rooms, which were lovely in size with air con, a fridge, TV and free safe. We did have a few problems but didn’t report any of them as they were minor, small ants in the room, wardrobe door not on runners (so hard to move) and the shower wasn’t very good (took a while to get a good temperature and dribbled out) but managed to do the job. Could do with some TLC to get to a higher standard but we didn’t book a five star hotel!

However we couldn’t fault the cleaners, every time they did our room they did it to a high standard with clean towels, replenished soaps and toilet rolls. The pool area was amazing, with free towels to use and the staff were always pleasant.

We did notice there was a games room on the last day but could probably do with a pool table etc

We had a great time, a big shout out to Sylvester he was definitely the best barman for us, always making jokes and keeping us topped up with great cocktails, especially our favourite’Sex on the Deck’ and Strawberry Daiquiri.

We had a late flight time and even though we checked out at 12 we were offered our room for longer (at a cost), we didn’t want it as we were going to lounge by the pool so they offered us the hospitality suite for an hour to freshen up before we left at 6.30pm

A good location with food and shops close by, bars in either direction and a bus which goes from Oistins to Bridgetown for 3.50 Bbd

We would recommend this hotel 😎

For those who read long reviews, I'm going to list the positive about this hotel before I give you my negative feelings. We chose this hotel because the Windstar Cruise Line listed it as their hotel and we went to Accra after disembarking from a Windstar Cruise. The positive is that their beach is amazing! The hotel provides free chairs, umbrellas and towels for an all-day stay. A bar and grill are nearby. The beach sand and waves were magic. I tipped the chair guy and he got us a spot with a better view and took care of us again the next day. OK, here are the negatives, we paid $400 USD for a sea view room. Check-in time is 3 pm, we arrived around 1 pm and so we waited which was expected. Around 330 pm I approached the desk to see if there was a room assigned to us-no. I came back 20 mins later and the desk clerk said the room we requested was still not ready and offered us a larger, upgraded room. We looked at it and said OK. It is room 479 and it has a balcony, jacuzzi and a king bed. We went to turn on the shower and there was no hot water and no water pressure. Called the desk and they sent maintenance man. Good response but no water. We gave up and went to dinner and stopped at the front desk to find others in our wing with similar problems. When we returned water had been restored with a minimum of pressure. My complaint is that these resorts charge high dollar rates but do not supply luxury features. Our room had windows looking out at the ocean but you could not adjust the mini blinds inside the windows until the maintenance man brought a magnet to open them. An art picture was on the floor because the wire hanger broke and no one bothered to fix it until we had the maintence man in the room. To be fair, the water came on with minimal pressure that first night after we returned from dinner and remained available to us the next day and night. I think the entire wing was suffering but they never offered to reduce our rate for the inconvenience. My $400 per night rate did not include breakfast. I suggest more searches for a hotel before you choose Accra. The room was clean. Having a jacuzzi was a joke since it would have taken all day to fill and by the time it was full the water would not be hot. I would not stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel as a couple in 2017, it wasn't too bad, the room was reasonable so I had no qualms returning as a family of four, for a one off christmas away from home.
I chose the hotel as it wasn't as expensive as my favorite hotel, well, you get what you pay for!
Upon arrival at the hotel, no real welcome, no complimentary rum/fruit punch or cool towel as last time and as other hotels do.
Our room was a junior suite, unfortunately the junior suites that are advertised on the Accra website are not what Virgin class as a junior suite. Another disappointment. Two beds were queen size, so four of us were squeezed into them, until we discovered the sofa was a sofa bed. This did not look like it had been made up in a while. Single sheet on the beds, so I had to use what can only be described as hospital blankets found in the wardrobe.
Yes, the fixtures and fittings in the room were tired, but they worked. There are plumbing issues however, toilet flush was awkward and if you didnt get it right it would permanantly fill. Shower pressure was an issue, but at least ours was warm.
Be warned....walls are paper thin!! Thanks to our very noisy argumentative neighbours and their screaming, stomping children we had poor sleep. It then made me paranoid and I found myself tiptoeing around the room, instead of being relaxed.
There are positives, believe it or not. Housekeeping keep things going, they organise themselves in the hallway every morning, and give you anything you need. They do what they can with what they are given.
Be warned, the bar in the lobby plays the football matches constantly, so you end up attracting the drunk football chanting brigade, no relaxing by the pool.
The pool is fab, the hotel is in a great location near to many restaurants and shops, which is why I imagine this hotel keeps going!
Essentially, this hotel is ok. Its a budget hotel and it is a reasonable price. I wish however I had chosen another for a special period like christmas. There were plenty of festive meals and occasions to join in, however they charge a fortune for the pleasure. (£100 each for New Years Eve dinner).
If you are happy with 3 star cheapness, do it. If not, like us, book elsewhere next time!!

I have been coming here for quite a few years and I have noticed whilst the price of the accommodation is going up the rooms do not match what you are paying for. The bathroom tiles are grubby and needs a deep clean, there is no where to hang your dressing gown also I’m not sure why there are no hand towels railing near the sink or anywhere in the bathroom. If there is a fire the fire safety notice should be on the room door and NOT in the draw where you cannot find it. The deck chairs on the balcony are not user friendly if you have back problems don’t use them they are far too low down.
In the front reception there should be a notice board of who’s whom in the hotel I.E the general manager or the duty manager to address any concerns. Why don’t you do a meet and greet anymore the last manager had that service which was a nice touch and it gave you a chance to ask question and put your point across or concerns at that time. GM needs to bring that back.
What would it take to notify guest of any renovations whilst guest are visiting? I came to the lobby to have a drink only to find out that the bar was boarded up with no notice on the front.
I think that there should be some music played around the pool bar to make you feel like you are in the Caribbean. The whole atmosphere seems dull and boring. They NEED to update their gym!!!! most of the equipment is very dated and make a racket when using it.
When ordering food why not offer hand sanitizer? with all the issues with health warning this would look like you care about your guest well fair.
The children games room is a complete joke if was manned half the toys would not be missing or broken. There is NO entertainment for children.
The whole hotel looks unkept.

First impressions weren't great. We got a pool view room, when we expected an ocean view room, but you could just about see the sea......
On going down to the beach bar, we were surrounded by wasps... sat down and saw two large rats run out from the shrubs nearby. Thse were seen several times during the stay.
Covid 19 reared its head during the weeks stay, so I suppose the miserable faces on most of the staff was to be expected. There was a few exceptions to this, notably Everton, on duty in the breakfast buffet, Yvonne at the evening restaurant, and Paul working behind the bars.
Then the hotel decided to renew the drains to the swimming pool overflow system, so the swimming pool was shut for the last 2 days of our stay. (why not wait until the hotel was closed ??)
Add to that a very confusing all inclusive system, where we had to sign for all meals and drinks despite wearing the all inclusive arms bands. I'm very glad we didn't have to pay the prices quoted for some basic meals, E.G over £100 for a bbq meal, and the same for a buffet curry meal. (for two)

We are coming to the end of 15 fabulous days in Barbados. 2 days left. This hotel has made us feel completely at home. Staying in room 337 and wake up every morning to a spectacular view of the pool and the ocean. Also visible is the extensive cleaning taking place and the attention to the gardens and grounds.

The manager Sharesh is fabulous, totally visible and interacts with guests easily and genuinely taking an interest. He has time for everyone, is totally professional and a pleasure to talk to.

The pool boys, Torian and Shakiel oneal always have a smile on their face and there is no shortage of beds. They chat with you whilst bringing your sun bed and brolly and putting it wherever you choose on the beach or by the pool.

Big shout out too for Javan, behind the beach bar. Fabulous service, quick humour and so hard working. Nothing too much trouble and has been great fun.

The maid service has been nothing short of spectacular. Absolutely spotless everyday.

Yes, in parts the hotel maybe a little tired but it has just gone through practically a full year of being shut. It is coming back to life. Rooms are being painted, balconies are being refreshed in the bright Accra colours and the public areas are all to a high standard. This is a great value for money hotel in our opinion far exceeds most European hotels we’ve stayed in. It is also in a fabulous location with restaurants, shops and a supermarket close. We will definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

We have been coming back to this hotel for a number of years now. We absolutely love the island but for us, this particular property covers everything on our wish list. The location cannot be beat......the beach is our favorite, having the perfect amount of wave action (not so much that you worry about undertow and not so calm that it's no fun), beautiful white sand, and stunning sunsets. The boardwalk is a couple minutes walk on the sand to reach, and plenty of meal and bar options within walking distance. The Quayside plaza across the street, including the mini-mart, is ideal for picking up snacks, gifts, beer for your room, etc. and the ZR and local buses swing past the hotel front frequently providing access to areas further away.

We have experienced slow check-in's on a couple of previous visits but this year was painless. We had no wait upon arrival and were pleased to find out we had received an upgrade to a Deluxe Oceanview Junior Suite. Within about 30 mins we had checked-in, changed into our Caribbean holiday clothes, and were at the Sunset Bar, overlooking the turquoise waters past the white sand, and sipping on our welcome drinks.

Our room was quite large and clean. It is true that some areas of the hotel could use a bit of sprucing up but it seems that each time we visit, there is some sort of maintenance going on so it seems that things are never left too long before they're acted upon....and this visit was no different as we saw some painting of the electrical covers on the grounds, some work and cleaning happening on the adults pool and the Sandbar was closed and boarded up with notices stating it now under renovation. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. As with any property, there's always risk of an employee having a bad day....but overall, everyone was just great.

We noticed a few poor reviews prior to our arrival and find it hard to believe they were staying at the same hotel as us. We will definitely be back again, that's for sure.

From the moment we arrived at check in there was a long queue of guests complaining about multiple issues. I could write pages about how bad it is but I will stick to the facts - the showers are cold, at any time of the day. The hotel is unclean and outdated. Our shower door did not close, which meant our bathroom was drenched every time we took a shower. After telling the reception staff 3 times with no luck we just gave up. The wifi is non existent so you will need to purchase data if you want to go online (we are with the network Three and it is expensive so had to rely on the restaurant across the road) There are not enough beach towels for guests so we had to use our bathroom towels for sitting by the pool. We were sold an Ocean view room but did not get it, you could not see the sea from our balcony, we were facing the building and I took multiple photos to show this, however the reception staff just insisted it is sold as ocean view and there is nothing they can do (having researched this on my return home this is potentially illegal due to misleading)
The staff, especially the 'general manager' are robotic and unhelpful, I imagine because they are dealing with complaints all day you can't blame them. There is no sympathy or understanding, even if you politely tell them your room has not been cleaned / something is broken. Honestly, they do not care. I go could go on and on but you get the idea - this is not a 4 star and if you are hoping it'll be like the images on their website you will be so disappointed. The location on the beach is the only positive, but you could book a thousand other hotels on the beach this is not worth half of what we paid.
