    Beautiful Beach
Beautiful beach to spend the day at and water is calm enough to snorkel - no problem. Lots of bars to choose food from. Water is busy with boats and jet ski etc so be aware.

    Harrison's Cave: An Excellent Experience
This was an amazing experience! There's a little something for everyone. The tour was relaxing, informative, interesting. A very unique Caribbean experience! The zipline and the obstacle course is great for an adrenaline rush and light workout. The bird sanctuary was all laughs for us, we even saw green monkeys while there!. The food was delicious and the signature green monkey drink is a must have! The staff was very helpful, polite and friendly. Big shout out to the zip line crew!! I actually felt safe gliding through the forest 😆. Harrison's Cave is a must do when going to Barbados we practically spent the whole day there... we just didn't want to leave!

    Awesome!
This was a very informative tour of Mount Gay Distillery in St. Lucy. Akeel is very knowledgeable, and was a great tour guide. The rain definitely did not stop our jam!

    Good Fresh Fish DInners
Ate at Chillin and Grillin. Very good fresh fish. Would go again. Took the #11 bus but driver drove past Oistens and had to drop us on his way back around which meant a delay overall. Nice.

    Railway Train was Fun!
We enjoyed our visit to St. Nicholas Abbey-and really wish that we had had more time to have been able to enjoy it more fully.
The railway ride was definitely the highlight up to Cherry Tree Hill for the wonderful views. Tyrone the fireman was terrific-and he took some great videos of us blowing the whistle.
The staff was mixed. One lady was not very friendly as we started the walk up the hill to the house-but the rest were very good. We were there for sugar cane crushing, and that was very cool to watch. Bought some Barbados Brown Sugar-which has a very different consistency that what we usually have, but it is delicious!!
2-3 hours would be the optimum time for this place to enjoy it all.

    Not for swimming
Great place to watch the fury of the Atlantic Ocean but not for swimming. Be sure to take a pic with the big rock! Lots of sargassum when we visited.

    highly recommended for families
We visited Barbados twice on cruises, and went to Harrison's cave the first time and then visited Animal flower cave and the Barbados Wildlife Reserve with children ages 5, 8 and 3 for our second trip to Barbados. I think touring the Animal Flower cave and the nearby Wildlife Reserve is a more enjoyable experience for families than visiting Harrison's Cave. Prior to our visit, I wrote to the Animal Flower Cave management for guidance as to whether my 5 year old would be able to participate in their excursion, and they quite accurately explained that this is a natural sea cave, and that the steps to descend into the cave can be uneven. If you believe your child is capable of descending and climbing uneven stairs, this excursion is a very good choice for your family. My 5 year old was able to slowly but steadily make her way down unassisted. I went in front of her and was prepared to catch her if she fell, but she was absolutely fine.

Water shoes are strongly suggested to help you navigate the uneven terrain at the bottom of the cave. The inside of the cave is smaller than Harrison's Cave, but children will love the more hands on experience of exploring that this cave offers, and will especially love the ability to swim inside the cave.

It is extremely important to note that occasionally animal farm cave needs to close either swimming or close down altogether due to adverse weather conditions. Please check their Facebook page for operational status prior to traveling here because it is a significant distance from the port.

Children would greatly enjoy the 30 minute ride through Harrison's cave. However, please be aware of the fact that only 30 minutes of the Harrison's Cave tour is the underground ride (this part is wonderful), and the rest of the tour is watching a movie about the history of Barbados or waiting for the movie, or waiting to load onto the ride or waiting to check in. It is about a half hour drive from the cruise port to Harrison’s Cave, and if you are on an independent excursion you are also required to arrive half an hour prior to the start of your tour. During the many waiting periods I asked the employees if my kids could play on the play structure located right outside the ride entrance, and was told they had to wait inside the building the whole time or our seats on the ride through the cave would be given away (they could play after the first check in but needed to sit in the building for all the rest of the waiting times, and they walked out of the movie on Barbados history since they were bored and had to wait in the lobby for it to finish and weren't allowed to play on the nearby play structure while the movie ran). The 30 minute ride was lovely, but my kids were fried by the time we finally were able to get on the ride, and they couldn't appreciate the experience as much as they would if the experience was designed for children to enjoy (i.e. telling us to check in and wait 10 minutes before the ride is scheduled instead of wasting so much time standing around waiting for our tour.)

Animal Flower Cave is organized on a first come, first serve basis, so you show up, check in and wait for your small group to be combined with others to enter the cave with a guide. We visited Animal Flower cave at the absolute height of the tour season - over the Christmas holidays - and even then there. was very little waiting, plus if one adult stays in the waiting area to listen for your name to be called, the other can lead the children to the play area or everyone can appreciate the spectacular view of the water off the cliffs.

Nearby is the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, where you can see many animals at the two feeding times (11 am and 2 pm). The Animal Flower Cave and Barbados Wildlife Reserve are both very enjoyable experiences for children which can be easily combined in one port day if you are on a cruise.

    Foursquare Distillery
We loved our trip to Foursquare Distillery! It was free to roam around to tour the distillery and grounds, and we loved learning about and tasting the rum! Lea was our guide through the rums and very friendly and knowledgeable! We had a lovely time and purchased multiple bottles to bring home with us! A must when visiting Barbados!

Proud Locals Keep This Place Sweet.
Local people are very proud of their beach. They even chased away a poor man who was begging from us. Spotlessly clean public changing rooms and toilets.

    Worth getting up early for
Worth getting up early to see the race horses bathing and even being ridden in the sea by the beautiful Peebles Beach. Be a little wary of the offer to let you have your photo taken with one of the horses after which they then ask for payment. But that doesn’t spoil a lovely morning and an unusual sight.
