Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
This hotel is very well positioned for tourists. The local bus stops around the corner and the subway is literally a 100yd walk from the hotel. We arrived at 10.30 in the morning knowing that we couldn’t check in until 3.00 pm. But the hotel is more than happy to hold your luggage in a safe room until you can check in. The hotel seems very popular with British tourists as most of the people booking in and checking out were British. There is coffee and tea available 24/7 in the cellar and a fantastic rooftop balcony where you are very welcome to buy beer from the local beer and spirit shop and drink on the outside terrace. There are some great little businesses in the area too. I can highly recommend the pizza shop 3 doors up the street. The staff are lovely and very friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned everyday and left spotless our room was a little on the small side but it adds to the charm and character of the hotel. It has some great paintings throughout mostly by local artists. I would highly recommend this hotel and we look forward to returning there next year

What can i say about this hotel apart from omg it is amazing !!! let me tell you the decor and vibe of this place is great and modern even with some work being done to the lobby area i couldn't ask for much more, the location wow 1 hour walk to Brooklyn bridge/Battery park for the ferry to the Statue of liberty and everything in between like China town, Wall street or to Maddison square if that is your thing or great underground links on the corner of 2nd avenue station (2 mins walk) to take you anywhere from Brooklyn or the The Bronx. The view from the roof top terrance is amazing at night, its so easy to get lost in time up there relaxing with a beer and looking at the city views and the empire state building is just in front lighting up the night sky. Everything is on your doorstep from a 24 hour shop, supermarket, bars and restaurants and the famous Katz Deli within 5 mins walk. The rooms are just amazing, modern, clean and big with all the amenities you can ask for. The staff at the Ridge hotel are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. i DO recommend this hotel if you come to NY. top price, top quality, top location and a big bang for your bucks!!!!

We did enjoy our stay at the ridge Tea, Coffee, Water, Iced Tea cereal and pastries self service available throughout the day Room clean and well equip (we were 202 or 203)
Tip for travellers, as for a room not on the front corner it was light and sunny, we found it very difficult to sleep cars beeping all night long people shouting outside bars close by and general noise. We did speak to reception about this but weren't able to move us. Gaps in sealant around bathroom window we plugged with tissue as let the cold in and noise

We stayed one night. Good location in East Village right on Houston close to bars, restaurants, night life. Rooms are somewhat small but comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly and informative. I appreciated the eco-friendly refilled soap bottles. Also liked the artsy vibe. Coffee room in the basement has croissants, granola bars as well as coffee etc. A really good experience.

This hotel came with a package holiday we had booked. Upon arrival Jasmine was working the front desk. She was very polite and helpful and gave us lots of information about getting around the city. The room was small but as we were out pretty much all day every day this didn’t bother us. A few personal negatives.... we weren’t informed about the “hang out area” downstairs or the roof top terrace. We were provided with bottles of water when we arrived in the room but these weren’t replenished any other day. Waking up in the morning meant we had to get ourselves up and dressed before we could go and grab a drink or coffee. If we had known about the coffee downstairs this would of made the stay a lot more enjoyable!! The location is fantastic, we walked everywhere. The 9/11 museum was about 30min, 1hr to Battery park for the Statue of Liberty, 45mins for Empire State Building, 1hr for Times Square and about 1hr 15min for Central Park. Overall I would definitely stay here again, especially now I know I can get a coffee at the hotel!!

I attempted to book a this hotel last evening and due to a misunderstanding in the app I was not able to access the hotel for my reservation. I was told by booking.com that I would be charged the full amount even with not being able to access the room. I called Jallow who is the manager who was able to help me get a full refund and let me know about direct booking promotions with better rates. He really turn my experience from a very negative one to very positive. Next time I need a hotel I'll make sure to call directly. Thank you Jallow and The Ridge for helping me out

booked via booking.com and selected pay later and free cancellation. The hotel immediately emailed me saying I had to make full payment within 48hours, so I cancelled. They took the money anyway (got my credit card details from booking.com) then when I requested a refund gave me back £70 less than I had paid. Booking.com where useless as well. I’m now having to claim via my credit card (thank god I used that). Avoid!

Our 5 night booking in June 2020, as part of a tour of the U.S. was overtaken by Covid. I had booked direct with the hotel and they refused a refund, giving us a 1 year credit. All my other hotel bookings for that trip were booked through booking.com and refunded in full. It was not possible to use the credit by June 2021 so after some dispute the hotel reluctantly agreed to extend the credit to June 2022. It has been difficult if not impossible to travel to the U.S. in the last year so I requested another extension. This was flatly refused. I wanted to make a 10 night booking for August 2022 which would have cost a fair bit more than our credit but even this short extension to the credit was refused. The reception desk often doesn't answer emails so we ended up having to make an expensive call in an (unsuccessful) effort to sort it out. We feel we have been robbed to the tune of around £800. Beware!

Booked on booking.com two years ago to stay for three nights when my friend was getting married. Paid in full. Whist I was travelling in Costa Rica (a few days before the wedding) I got an email from the property saying there would be no reception, cleaning or check-in during our stay due to COVID!? Was also asked to provide a picture (front and back) of the card I paid with... I emailed to explain the card I paid with had been lost a long time ago so I only have the replacement with me. I then received an email saying they would refund me and charge my new card, I said no please do not do that (as I did not have enough funds in my account to be charged twice whilst waiting for a refund that may never arrive)! They tried to charge my account anyway!! And for more money than my original bill, WITHOUT refunding me first! Luckily it bounced as there were not enough funds.
They then emailed saying I needed to provide the card I paid with (impossible) within 24hrs or my booking would be cancelled. This went back and forth several times and it completely ruined my evening as I was worried we would have nowhere to stay the next night.
After I contacted booking.com they gave me the check-in codes with no card shown.... so it was all pointless.
The room was tiny and the toilet was not cleaned well. There was dust and and hair behind the lid.
The hairdryer was broken but they did send someone to fix it that day.
Good location. Roof top bar had no bartender.

I booked The Ridge via booking.com and will never go there again. We arrived late due to airline delays and when we arrived were not able to get into the room. Their “contactless” check-in process was that they sent us a code to enter the building and one to enter the room. The front door code worked, the room code didn’t. We were stuck in the hallway. I called the number provided and a person answered but said she couldn’t get into the computer. I asked what she was going to do and she hung up and never answered again. Our repeated attempts to call and text were not successful and we spent all night in the basement community room. No access code for the bathroom. In the morning they gave us a new door code and promised a refund. We never got it. They claimed it was refunded but we never got it. My credit card company wouldn’t help because the hotel had required full payment upon booking, several months in advance. The bank said we had to dispute the charge within 60 days, but our arrival was 3 months after the booking date. The room was impossibly small. And overall the hotel is substandard. And unethical. Don’t go there!
